I don’t know about anyone else but for about 4 or 5 months now I have been receiving an over abundance of really weak reqs in my gold packs. Phatons are fewer and further between, Oni and Hannible items are extremely scarce. I’m not sure if an update came out that made ultra rare items even more less frequent to receive. . . 
Or if this is 343’s less evasive EA spin-off of getting your money. Like, “Hey, if you buy our bungle gold packs you have a better chance of getting better weapons and vehicles.”
In my opinion, gold packs have become a joke. I get more useful items in Silver packs now. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Can someone please explain this? I love Halo. Been with it since the beginning. It has made all my deployment in the Marine Corps exponentially more enjoyable. But this microtransactions crap needs to stop. I get these things are ultra rare. Let’s not make it next to impossible. . .

I got a Phaeton Helios in my last gold pack. I think you’re just getting some bad RNG.
Couple of possibilities:
- 343i secretly changed the drop rates for certain items in the REQ system to make it harder to get those things. - It’s due to random chance and you’ve just had bad luck.I’m inclined to believe it’s the latter. Personally I’ve been having great luck with even the daily login REQ packs; most days I get an ultra rare REQ from them. But that’s not indicative of everyone’s experience. And, probably, neither is yours.
Now, if you can get data from a significant sample size of players that shows a decreased prevalence of getting certain items from Gold Packs, then I would smell suspicion.
I don’t think there’s a problem with the gold packs but I think the quality of REQs varies from people-to-people in general. Because I have everything unlocked and a bunch of REQs on standby, 50% of the time when I open Gold pack I get legendaries and even mythics so really it all comes down to how much REQs you have, chances are you get them more often than something like phaetons or ONI Scorpions.
I think they did make it harder to get rarer items . I quite often don’t even get a single good item in multiple gold packs Hannibal wasps and Helios are as rare as hen teeth . Pretty annoying. That said it is a gambling roulette system designed for the player not to get want they want but get a little something to give you hope so you come back and spend more money ( not really a system appropriate of a skill based game / or any imo ) that being said your still going to have to rely on luck and spending lots and lots of points !!!
It’s RNG… It can be a pain. I just opened 220k in gold packs and got one phaeton helios, two regular phaetons, one Hannibal mantis. Two legendary boost, one for arena and one for warzone. Seemed alright to me I guess. What I want is more active camo, they seem to never come up for me.
When I first started playing, I didn’t even know that you could sell things. About 24 hours into gameplay, I realised this and sold just about everything, accumulating around 80k reqs, got 7-8 gold req packs and 3 or 4 of them contained an abundance of plasma pistols. The highest thing I got out of it besides permanent unlocks, were tanks. I have heard that if you spend your first few days spending on bronze and silver packs, it leaves more room to unlock better things.

I find that I go through various “cycles” of reqs. Right now I get tons of Answers when a month ago I was drowning in camo. Before that I had quite a few phaetons/wasps that was preceded by a ton of ad vics. At the time I was playing nearly everyday and would open at least 10 gold packs/day while maintaining a stash of 100k points.
Have you been doing the REQ method? If you haven’t opened bronze, then silver, then gold, that’s why. If you’re talking about burn cards, that’s really wierd. All I know is that different cards, even if they’re in the same catagory will drop more then others. Such as the Phateon will drop morre then the Phateon Helios.
