Gold rank after 11 games

Anyone explain this to me? I’ve played with a few people in the beta now who are gold with a negative k/d spread, played less than fifteen games, an have no more than 40 kills.

Confused. I’m a silver with 7hrs and a 4.6 k/d spread. How’d they rank up so fast?

Your performance in your first 10 placement games decodes what tier you start in

They got put in there from the start. Just let players rank down, or up until they get where they belong.

They should definetly improve the system used in the 10 first games though, because there are so many onyx+ players that don’t belong there.

Huge problem with this ranking system is that if you played it early, you’re more than likely an Onyx or even better.

Reason for this is everybody we played with was unranked and unproven. For those that started playing the Beta in the last day or so played their placement games against Bronze and Silver players. Why I’m saying this is the games played against the unranked were weighted higher vs those that played against the players with proven “meh” rankings. Make sense?

Will be easier to rank up from lower ranks when full game comes out and there is a wider variety of players.

from my perspective many of the people i know won all 10 of their games, the lowest rank i saw from that was low silver and the highest was immediately put into semipro, despite this the performance of some of the people in onyx was far superior to that of the person who was put in semipro…so from what i can deduce the ranking system factors in the people you face and their actual or estimated MMR based on their previous performances against other players.

since the ranking system is pairing placement players up against people of differing ranks to some degree, the placement games are partly luck of the draw. either way if your good you’ll continue to rank up and if they’re bad they’ll eventually rank down.

that explains it! I was wondering this too. I only lost two of my first ten games and had a kda spread of 15, but I only got ranked gold, then I looked at people ranked onyx with more losses and lower kda spreads. Now I see why.
