So after a game of BTB I had 10k req points, so I decided to buy a gold pack. When the game ended I went to buy it, but then got an error message. My 10k req points were gone and I did not receive any new req, nor did my gold pack appear in the “open packs” menu. This is un-excusable for 343 for something quite significant in their game to be broken
The req system has had issues. Although you were robbed of the joy of the req pack opening animation, your reqs where added to inventory. Restart your Xbox, you can also view them on waypoint.

On rare occasions, a REQ Pack will open without displaying the full animation. If this happens, the items will still be placed directly into your inventory. If the items are not immediately visible in your inventory, please perform a hard reset on your Xbox One and the items should be there. Additionally, if you’d like to check from your computer, the items should be in your inventory here on Halo Waypoint as well. We apologize for the inconvenience!
