So I am curious as to what people think, and what is working better for them for unlocking helmets/armor/assassinations/and stances. Should I save up and use req points to purchase gold packs, or just buy two silvers for the same price?
Gold, read the tooltip at the bottom when you have the pack selected and it explains why.
Gold gets you any unlocks including legendary. Silver is only rare or ultra rare I think.
Silver is more for getting all the various weapon mods and armor. You just won’t get any of the Super Special stuff that Golds could have.
At least if you want legendary things that is…
Silver first to unlock everything then buy gold for the more rare items.
Gold REQ Packs contain a large amount of Uncommon to Legendary REQs. 2 REQs will be permanent unlocks, if available.
Silver REQ Packs contain Common to Rare REQs. 2 REQs will be permanent unlocks, if available.

If you want to be less disappointed, go for the Silvers first. You’ll get Uncommons and Rares only as your perma unlocks, but it’s better then opening a Gold and getting Uncommon Weapon Certificates or Uncommon -Yoink!- for like 2 hours worth of Warzone. And the less Uncommons and Rares you have, the better the chance for obtaining that sweet ONI Scorp Tank or the Mythic Assassination moveset, 140 Ways to Die.
I’ve been saving up every time for gold packs, because you’ll always get something permanent/special.

Gold is more worth it.
Does each silver include 2 permanents guaranteed? If so, doesn’t buying 2 silvers as opposed to 1 gold get you more armor and stuff?
Silver = 5000rp (2 perm req unlock)
Gold = 10000rp (2 perm req unlock)
Gold will have rarer cards but you only get those rarer cards if you unlock them first.
So spend 10000 on gold for 2 unlocked req cards or spend 10000 on 2 silver for a chance of 4 unlocked req cards.

You get 2 perm unlocks with silver as well, just not a higher rarity.
That’s what I was thinking, but a lot of people are claiming silver is better if you don’t have a lot of the lower level stuff unlocked yet.
buy silver until you start unlocking only ONE permanent unlock then buy gold…this is a good way to get weapons and armor at a decent rate.

OK I think I may try this approach, thanks.

Yes. What I’ve been doing is opening up a Gold, then saving up for 2 Silver and then I’ll open a few Bronze packs. This way I’m getting a supply of the rarer stuff from the Gold packs, but filling out the middle stuff with Silver and Bronze packs much faster, increasing my chances of unlocking really rare stuff from the Golds. It’s all personal preference, but I would recommend opening up mostly Silver and Bronze packs to start with, with a Gold here and there.
