So I played all my placement matches on my secondary account. Afterwards I was placed in Gold 4. I won 8/10 matches and had a K/D/A of 6.8. I just want to know why. In my eye that makes no sense.
Because K/D/A isn’t everything.
It depends on who you beat, their ranks, their MMR, how well you did, how well your team did, how well your opponents did.

On topic, Moa nailed the answer as usual. He’s the freaking man! Just wanted to add on that the system seems to take into account previous ranks. So if this account hadn’t been ranked before you might’ve spanked some silvers and thusly only been placed in gold. If you played on an established account you might’ve played against onyx or platinum players. Whatever is closer to your actual skill.

My team destroyed and I know I didn’t go negative one game. We also played against platinum and onyx so I’m still not seeing why I was placed where I was.

Like I said, rank isn’t everything. A ton of other factors (which I mentioned) play into it, too.
The ranking system is broken in my opinion.

I pretty good at swat but last season I sucked with 6/10 games won and a much… “lower” K/D and yet I got placed in G4
