Ok if some of you have read Glasslands…please back me up. Then again, I don’t even know if this is from Glasslands.
I know some of you are -Yoinking!- about Halo 4’s multiplayer have COD elements introduced to it. In reason, 343 has stated that Halo 4’s mutliplayer ties directly to the Campaign which takes place 6 months after Halo 4(minor spoiler) on the UNSC Infinity.
The reason for these COD elements being implemented is because of the newly created Spartan IV’s. The Spartan IV’s were created a few years or momths(not sure which) after the events of Halo 3 by a different Doctor(don’t know her name) It’s been confirmed that we will be working with several Spartan IV’s or a team at least as far as I know in Halo 4, judging from some of the screenshots. John’s Promethian Vision in the Campaign isn’t nesseccarly Promethian Vision but a different version of it called VISR Mode as Cortana calls it. Cortana did do a firmware, basically a hardware overhaul of Johns augmentations and his suit which is pressummably why his Armor is that of a Mark VII which we’ve never seen. However the Promethian Vision in Multiplayer is probably something the Spartan IV’s acquired from Forerunner Tech on Requim.
Here is a detailed explanation of the Spartan IV’s from Halo 4’s website which explains the AA’s and COD elements being implemented and why.
> With the addition of SPARTAN-IV super-soldiers into the Office of Naval Intelligence’s expansive military schema, the Materials Group has spearheaded the next generation of Mjolnir Powered Assault Armor, officially dubbed ‘GEN2.’ Now produced by half a dozen military and privately contracted manufacturers, the newest format of ONI’s prodigious armor technology comes with ad hoc modification systems, which, in addition to Armor Abilities, allows for Tactical Packages and Support Upgrades. These enhancements give Spartans the opportunity to improve their combat performance as well as personalize their actions in the field.
Now reason why John as Sprint, well Spartans have been always able to Sprint aka episodes from Halo Legends, the Halo 3 trailer. It’s just now that 343 is providiing us with that ability to make us feel more like an actual Spartan hence the new UI which makes it seem like your weaing a Mjolnir helmet.
Halo 4’s multiplayer is very based on canon aside from all the other Halo’s. Plus if you remember Halo Reach’s Noble Team which were composed of 4 Spartan III’s and one Spartan II (Jorge) Then you’d know why AA have been implemented again.
It is my theory that this so called Dcotor whos in charge of the Spartan IV Project combined aspects of the Spartan II and III’s abilities and augmentations to build or create the Spartan IV’s. I know some of you may still complain but again I don’t think people realize how canonish Halo 4’s mutliplayer will be.
> On the topic of sprint, wasn’t it originally stated Spartans could not sprint due to safety issues?
As far as I know yes, because the weight of the armor could prevent them from stopping as high speeds. I think there was an augmentation that was added to the candates of the Spartan II program that fixed the issue. Although since Spartan III’s were made by the UNSC and not ONI and since they were cheaper to develop, it probably didnt matter. I’m not too sure on that subject however.
just something. In Halsey’s journal it mentions what her plans were for Mk VII. Could have uploaded the info to Cortana before Reach was glassed. This extended period of time may have given her time to upgrade his systems.
Wow this thread got buried. I wasn’t expecting it but as always this forums fails to listen to people who try and give the game a positive outlook and explain things more in detail. No offense Waypoint.
Erm I’m afraid the construction of MP has very little to do with the campaign, using background storyline isn’t a very good excuse for making the gameplay worse.
343 have added these things to entice casuals, end of story.

You don’t pay very much attention. 343 even said it in some of the E3 interviews.

Alright, i have to ask, what is a casual?
All the things wrong with this game get blamed on the “casuals”,but no one says who the casuals are!

It’s the definition of the people who play the game for fun and don’t care if the same sucks which isn’t actually true. There is no true definition for it though, it’s just whatever you think of the word.

Oh right it must be true then. that was sarcasm btw it’s actually called covering your -Yoink-. Since when have aspects of the Halo story had a significant impact on how the MP plays? They should not be mixed at all.

Somebody who isn’t dedicated towards a particular game.
Somebody who plays purely for ‘fun’ and does not partake nor consider the competitive side of the game.
Somebody who plays COD regularly.
Somebody who finds gimmicks more enthralling than the actual gameplay.

343 did say that they wanted to take Halo in a new direction, and to be honest. I don’t know how fusing the multiplayer with the Campaign will work but we’ll just have to see. It’s never been done in Halo but I guess it’s just how 343 decided to create the canon of the Spartan IV’s. We shall see how it plays out in its release week. Heck I may even go into the more classic playlists they are supposed to be introducing as said in this weeks bulletin.

So a non-casual is someone who
Only plays one game
Does not play a game to have fun, but to win
makes fun of COD at every opportunity
And does not want to risk new features in case they are “gimmicky”

You should be a journalist if you’re that good at putting words in my mouth.
Not someone who only plays one game, somebody who moves over to a new game in a rather fickle fashion and doesn’t care about the long-term success and wellbeing of the franchise.
Yes they would rather win.
Third one was kinda joke, COD can be a competitive game but it has the most casuals playing in it.
And no, somebody who would buy a game because of a new visor colour rather than actual gameplay.
These discussions about what a casual is are so ridiculous. There is no "Casual/Competitive divide that you can draw a line with. I play to win and I’m dedicated to Halo, but i also play call of duty and buy new Halo games for the new gimmicks (If nothing new is added why bother buying the damn game?). So am i a casual. What if I bashed Call of duty, was dedicated to Halo, bought the game based on it’s competitiveness but didn’t have a massive stick up my butt and realized that the fact I’m getting a playlist or two that caters to my minority standpoint is more than fair and embrace the fact that halo needs to evolve to remain popular, am i casual? The only reason i say this is because it seems to me that competitive players are selfish, they want the whole game to themselves when there is no need, just enjoy the classic playlist and MLG playlist and let the less competitive players have there fun.
