Going to buy Halo 2 PC 2morrow?

Hey, so i might go to CEX UK to get Halo 2 PC and i wanted to know… Does it run on Windows 7?

Yes. It actually runs better on Windows 7 than on Vista.

Great!

Do i need to download anything?

Or do i insert the disk and it will download and run?

And Thanks

Pretty much. Also, one thing you should know, Microsoft is cancelling their support for Halo 2V some time around October this year, so if you want to get all the achievements for the game, I suggest you get them now.

Here ya go. It’s pretty sad and hard to believe it ends in only 3 and a half months.

Does that mean you cant play online anymore?

When they ended support for Halo 2 on XBL it meant they took it offline. So, I would think if they end support for it on the PC it means they are taking it offline as well. Not 100% certain though.

Aww man, XBConnect here I come!!

> Does it run on Windows 7?

Yep. I play it on a PC with Windows 7 64-bit and it runs perfectly.

You don’t need to download anything. The game will get all the updates from internet that it needs. All you have to do is to insert the DVD and follow the instructions.

Read this: http://forums.xbox.com/gfw/games_discussion/pc_games_e-k/f/295/p/253417/1316950.aspx#1316950

I just picked up Halo 2 PC and it wasn’t as easy as I was told it would be to run the game.

When I tried to run from the disc I got a repeated error message. After some web research, here is what worked for me (just in case it helps anyone else):

First, install the game using the custom install option and click the box to NOT run the game after install.

Second, after the install is complete, go find the halo.exe file (in the games folder if you don’t make chnages) and right click, then open properties and click the compatibility tab. Then select the option to run in Vista compatible mode (not Vista SP 1 or SP2 - just the plain Vista mode). While on that page, choose to run as administrator at the bottom (not sure this is necessary, but it can’t hurt).

Third, go to windows games live and download and run the windows games live client. Here is the link I used http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/pc/downloadclient

Once the windows games live client is running, go start Halo 2 PC and have at it.

I’m running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with all updates - just in case it matters.

Though the game works great and is fun to play when away from the xbox, I did notice that after completing all the campaign missions it shows the Achievements icons as done, but says “0 of 41” and doesn’t increase my overall gamerscore :frowning: Not sure if something went wrong, but still fun to play. I read that the achievements wouldn’t count toward waypoint, but I thought they would at least add to gamerscore and show as done (beyond just the icons).

Cheers.

YEAH THAT A KID. You wont be disappointed. Plus… Achievements!!! that you didn’t use to have. Can’t beat that.

haha
Sorry i really enjoyed it. haha
