Doesn’t it annoy the -Yoink- out of you?
I was playing BTB Assault and decided to stay back and defend my base. I got 35+ kills from incoming enemies and we still lost…
It’s just annoying. Basically, if I wanted to get my team’s bomb planted I had to leave my base to help them do it; effectively leaving my base open (I helped plant one, but while I was gone the enemies planted one too… ). Then there are the moments when you’ve got 4 allies ‘helping’ you, and not one of them are able to kill an enemy player, leaving you against several enemies at once.
I guess the point of this thread is to complain about teammates. Why can they be so so so bad at times?
Have you had any experiences with really bad teammates?
Some might call those that sit back and defend the base stat padders. It really does depend on the situation I guess.
Personally, I do it when I have a bunch of uncoordinated teammates. If I can’t be supported or ever have the oppourtunity to support an offensive, I stick to killing the incoming. I’m not committing suicide for nothing. Then again, if I have a bunch of team-killing yoink!tards, I won’t defend the base either. Not unless the enemy starts stat padding. Then I hang in the base because I know they won’t enter it.
Can’t win’em all in BTB when ya go solo, or in a pair. Though in a pair, at least you can/are suppose to have a partner to at least stay alive with. Maybe even be the deciding factor in a game because you’re the only 2 coordinated pair out there.
The OP story felt like a humble brag more than a complaint btw.
I faintly remember an instance of a teammate (non-guest) having a spread of -27 or something in a Slayer game.
How can it be fun to play if you’re that bad? I just can’t understand.
I went ridiculously positive that game, of course. The enemy was also pretty bad, but not as bad as my teammate. I think I was the only one in my team with more than 5 kills.
Its Reach what did you expect?
70% suck in Reach.
But why do those 70% that suck keep playing? Is it credits? Is that kind of ranking system really so addictive?
If there’s someone out there who goes consistently negative, I want you to tell me why you keep playing. How can the game be fun if you suck at it?
Just to recap, we want Halo to contain the highest population of casual players of XBL games, but we also want players who aren’t very good to stop playing Halo?
Well…from my experience. All the people I use to play Halo 3 with. (and were very good) Quit playing at Reach. I will say why that is…But people will get offended…But whatever. Go be offended somewhere else. This game has a very slow pace. AA’s are just a dumb idea in general or at least executed poorly. But yeah. I would say most of the good players don’t play this game.
(which caused me to have to make new friends just to play this game)

That’s not what I want. I’m just wondering how they can enjoy the game if they suck at it. I’m curious and I want to know.
I don’t really care where Reach places in terms of population, as long as I find games. I just wish it would match players more accurately according to their skill level.
Search restrictions do nothing, so don’t suggest using those.
They may suck compared to you, but to others they may be invincible.
Remember, fill a room with people with IQs of 160 and suddenly you’ve dropped the room’s IQ down to 100. Fill a room with a bunch of people with IQs of 85 and stick them all in a room together, you’ve raised the room’s IQ to 100.

Thats the one thing i dont like about reach’s matchmaking system is there nothing really to match up people with thesame skill level, im not that good at reach but im either getting owned or its super easy

If you go double digit negative against me, I guarantee you won’t be invincible to anyone. I’m better than average, sure, but not that good.
And if you stick multiple people in a room, the average IQ always decreases
That kinda thing happens to me so often in Invasion, and it’s tiring.
I, and my Battle-Buddy are co-operating and telling each other what’s going on (even if we’re right next to each other), but in most cases, the rest of our team treats the game like it’s Slayer and tries to lone-wolf it, which doesn’t help, at all.
> And if you stick multiple people in a room, the average IQ always decreases
Opinions aside, this part needs a serious revision. The average IQ is always 100. Removed the bold always, there are always exceptions. But as a rule, 100 sets the standard, deviation from the standard results in a non-100 number.
I think AA’s are the single greatest feature of Reach. I don’t know why you would hate on them, they are fun and add a great dynamic to the multiplayer experiance.
In regards to the “why do people play if they suck?” Well you don’t have to be a pro or an oldfag to enjoy something. Some people like somethings because they are hard. Challanges in and of themself can be fun. If I wont every game of reach I wouldn’t play anymore. Lots of people like to sing, and most of those people are terrible. They can’t make a living off of it, but they sure can have fun doing it.

Sure, if the people are alone.
But Average Group IQ < Average Individual IQ.
If you put people with IQs of for example: 85, 98, 120, 101.
Sum of IQs = 404
Avg. Individual IQ = 101
Group IQ < 101
People are dumber in groups, and get progressively dumber as the group increases in size. Always.
But we’re going way off topic here. Not that I care.
Your arguement against me is quite flawed. If you take your way of creating an average sample of numbers and not an IQ sample, then making a room full of 160’ers would maintain an average IQ of 160, not lower it as you said will always happen a few posts ago.
Once you put them into a new sample, you recalculate new a quotient. Not an always, but that’s how the sampling goes.

I admit I sort of failed to convey my argument in my first post. I meant to say that groups are dumber that the people in them.
I’ll try to make myself perfectly clear if I haven’t already done so.
Individual IQ = x (I’m using a single variable to make this simpler)
IQs of the group: x, x, x, x, x, x, x
Sum of IQs = 7x
Avg. IQ = x
Group IQ < x
But this still doesn’t explain how people who are bad at the game can enjoy it! I WANT AN EXPLANATION!!! NAO!
My team never seems to know what their doing, no matter what playlist I’m in. I always get mached with tards on my team, and half-way decent players on the other, I usually end up having to do everything for my team to win, which almost never happens. In my opinion Reach was the best Halo, but I quit due to all of the -Yoink!--re’s playing it.
Yeah, it sucks when your team is horrible and you lose even though you do ridiculously good. Here was a case where i managed to come back from down double digits with my teammates all quitting except for me to secure a 4 v 1 victory. That’s when it feels awesome, when you have terrible teammates and WIN
Lolwut?
