Things you can Grappleshot: walls, weapons, equipment, vehicles, fusion coils, other players (players you grapple towards do not seem to respond to being grappled thank god, although I hope there’s a sound cue when someone grapples onto you), whether you can grapple objective items still unconfirmed. You also cannot fire while grappling.
Gravity Hammer’s got AOE and can kill multiple people at once, but has a slight wind up. Not sure if it’s one hit kill, would make sense unless you have an overshield or something.
Repulsor deflects incoming projectiles but it can also be used to “Repulsor Jump” if you aim it at the ground (maybe you can repulse vehicles?)
You can CE weapons toward yourself with grenades if the Grappleshot is just too baby mode for ya (or you don’t have it). I wonder if you can do the same with equipment.
Picked up equipment is stored in inventory (I’m guessing limited to 1 or 2 items), if someone kills you you drop your equipment. Also, activating certain abilities like overshield has a slight windup and a noticeable visual cue so, if you’re in a duel with someone, you can kill them before they activate their ability (this was explicitly shown in gameplay). Would also make sense if you could see what equipment people have on them.
Razorback can store equipment, weapons and mission items in the back. If your team is being uncooperative, you can use the Razorback to transport the flag on your own perhaps.
There seems to be some kind of ADS or zoom thing on some weapons which I hope is just a zoom and doesn’t actually alter the accuracy of said weapons. Weapons with scopes have a normal scope like you’d expect from classic Bungie.
Slide, clamber and sprint are all making a return. Still don’t understand why we even need these things but there’s no point in arguing about it now.
The Bulldog fires really fast, has a tiny spread and seems to be fairly inaccurate at anything beyond point blank. With the weapon balanced like this, I can see it fitting right alongside the regular shotgun.
Vehicles take physical damage and explode after a certain threshold but give you a few seconds to flee the vehicle.
Dropwall is made out of chunks that you can damage and destroy individually.
New promethean weapon seems to have 2 firing modes, a vertical shot and horizontal shot. It also has homing projectiles which seem a bit OP, although I’m not sure how they will balance it.
Skewer can knock over vehicles.
The yellow shield effects are a bit too bright and obnoxious IMO, they should really consider toning them down. Also, hit markers are back. I hope they can be turned off.
Everyone starts out with the same weapons and abilities and need to scavenge for equipment. Weapons spawn on weapon racks, although I’m not sure whether they can still spawn on the ground. Some weapons in BTB drop in pods like on Delta Halo.
To my understanding, vehicles can still be found throughout the map, but they respawn by Pelican drop off.
Outlines are replacing red vs blue. Outline colors can be changed to whatever you want and also affect HUD elements, flags and other stuff. I play a lot of Overwatch, so I have plenty of experience with outlines. They work fine in that game and I’m never confused about who’s who. Also, friendly outlines can be seen through walls so you always know where your teammates are.
A new addition is the personal AI companion. Nothing against it, just hope we get some good variety for different voices. I pray to god we get a Sgt. Johnson AI.
Everything that’s customizable (that we know of): Spartan body type, voice, prosthetics for every limb (partial and full prosthetics), kneepads, shoulders, gloves, helmet, helmet attachment, visor, chest, armor coatings (not sure if you can apply different coatings to different parts of your spartan), armor emblems, armor effects (animated visors and such I’m guessing), weapon coatings, vehicle coatings and your personal AI.
EDIT: Forgot to add customizable - Armor Cores. I’m guessing that’s the base armor you wear that you put your other attachments onto. Like you can choose a Mark V armor core, but put different shoulders, kneepads, helmets, etc. on it.
Some cosmetics can be bought via battle pass. Battle passes are permanent once you buy them and you can buy any battle pass you want regardless of the season. I don’t see a better way they could have handled the micro’s.
The Sidekick has been redesigned (probably thanks to feedback), hopefully the Magnum is still on the way.
Haven’t seen the Plasma Rifle anywhere. Hope it makes a return eventually.
Academy is like a free-roam training area, apparently there’s some lore stuff in there as well.
We got bots. Not sure why everyone is acting like this is something brand new, bots have been a thing since Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament back in 1999 as far as I can remember. Anyway, good to see they’re finally making a return to MP FPS.
That’s about everything I could think of that’s worth mentioning. Leave anything I missed in the replies.
