Going from 6 to 12 in warzone

So when the game first came out, in warzone I believe you were allowed 12 man teams. At some point in the future, it reduced the limit down to 6. Later on again, it got brought back up to 12.

For how long has 12 man fireteams be reestablished since the 6 man limit?
Why were 12 man fireteams brought back?

12 man fireteams were allowed again because a better alternative to prevent farming and blowouts in Warzone was implemented in the matchmaking system. 12-man fireteams has been once again active since Oct 26, 2017: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/58b8518e005f432381ab99fbcaf931e0/topics/matchmaking-feedback-update-%E2%80%93-october-25/98c6c3a5-f3fe-4530-b7bb-cb0b0eba8657/posts?page=1#post14.

What do they mean they made games more fair?

It’s a long and complicated answer. Everything you need to know about it is in the archives of the weekly Matchmaking Feedback threads; you can peruse them to find the answers if you are so inclined: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/58b8518e005f432381ab99fbcaf931e0/topics/matchmaking-feedback-archive/1e3930f4-df85-440d-ab4f-d265d3e4ad31/posts

I think the req level drip has quite a bit to do with this. Prior to this change a team of 12 could triple cap then camp outside homebase getting high req level rewards while the team on the inside couldn’t get past level 2.

the Defending team still will be at a req disadvantage if they’re not doing well. But defending the core is no longer a hopeless cause.

There were other efforts made to balance te mode as well. Like boss kill and base cap req level rewards

Sometimes I think it’d be cool if special base defenses activate if your core has been exposed for a certain amount of time and/or if certain circumstances are met that indicate players are farming the enemy’s home base. Adding a surrender option might also be nice.

See the reason I ask was because a week or 2 ago, I was asked to be part of a 12 man fire team in warzone assault. I played probably 2-3 games. And in all of those games we proceeded to stomp the other team. They literally couldn’t do much against us and then I eventually left because I saw how blatantly unfair it was. I was looking through what 343 had to say, and they claimed that games were matched depending on how strong your fire team was or something like that. In those instances I didn’t see it, but on the other hand those kind of games are rare in general.

I love it! I hated how I’d always have a full team and couldn’t use everybody and had to kick

Do it.

The 6 man fireteam was the best option to allow for better match ups. Now it’s a lot like before which sucks
