God I Miss Firefight Classic

I miss them ODST firefight days with skulls and limited shared lives. :confused:

I know “go back and play ODST” but i mean nobody i know is on 360 anymore and i wanna play with my buddies.

I just miss the whole feel i guess, the ambient music and all that. Man, this game is missing those serene moments of beauty where nothing is happening and yet the music drives a moody emotion in you. Even in ODST firefight you got that. I know im nostalgic, I just miss classic FF. I thought we woulda at least got this new game mode and a classic one. idk.

I personally think it would of been easier to create and balance the old firefight with 4 people then the new one with 8.

We could create FF classic if we had WZFF in custom games… (Bungie pls)

Its possible to do but I guess haven’t figure how to put classic in halo 5.

Well, Reach is BC and still has a healthy population for a game of its age.

Sorry to break it to you, but Bungie makes Destiny now, and 343i makes halo.

And of course it was also offline and split screen. Ah the wonders of better hardware and a desire to limit people’s enjoyment

Yeah, the new firefight looks awesome but what 343i doesn’t realize is that they have to stop putting their own little twist on literally everything in the game. It gets me a bit annoyed when we ask for the falcon and get the wasp, or we ask for firefight and get WZ Firefight. Like yes, they are both great additions to the game, and I’m not complaining about that, but the fact is we didn’t ask for those. We asked for the falcon and classic firefight. I don’t understand why 6 years ago in halo reach, we could play firefight offline, on maps that were specifically meant for PvE encounters (the maps were from the campaign). We could also play it splitscreen, AND we had tons and tons of customization options. You’d expect that 6 years later we would have all that and more, but we get less than that months after the game launches. Kinda disappointing to be honest, but at least WZ firefight, even though vastly different to traditional firefight is lots of fun.

Note: I know that people asked for a UNSC air vehicle and we got one, but if you read the threads, they wanted a team-focused UNSC air vehicle, like the falcon, and the wasp is just a re-skinned phaeton with slightly different movement mechanics, if I’m going to be completely honest.

I know exactly how you feel. It seems like most games are moving away from survival based PVE, and that’s a shame.

ODST firefight still is my favorite too many nights just getting that Hero medal.

I would love it if 343 would allow you to create through forge an custom map for firefight it would be awesome that’s just my opinion

I like how people always come up with an excuse of why they can’t play the classic game type… I miss it but since my friends don’t play it I won’t either… well then you don’t miss it all that much do you :slight_smile: Load up Halo reach, it’s on Xbox one and has a classic firefight.

i only found odst firefight fun when I was doing the vidmasters…

If ODST ever becomes Backward Compatible We should all join up and go for the Vidmasters!

Yeah because screw the respawn time.

5 minute round and 30 seconds to respawn just because you got mauled by 1 of the 8 knights laying around the battlefield.

Noooooo, the problem is the unlimited lives in the first place. If you had 5-7 lives and they weren’t shared, dying would be on your -Yoink- and no one else. The garbage timer is one of the main reasons people hated Spartan Ops. It wasn’t challenging. Obviously they’ve fixed this since then, by adding more time as the rounds go on now. Either way, this new Warzone Firefight gametype is good, but it is more Spartan Ops than it is Firefight when you break it down.

Firefight Classic: Limited Live Pool, Skulls gradually turn on as you progress through waves, no timer, only objective is to survive, the objective cannot actually ever be attained, leaderboards are based on who has survived the longest.

Spartan Ops: Complete an objective, respawn based on timer, unlimited lives, mission eventually ends, no leaderboards.

Doesn’t the latter sound more like Warzone Firefight?

I like the new Warzone Firefight, it’s just not the same. If they made a classic mode where there is unlimited rounds and limited live pools then maybe it’d be better. I’m also the masochist that liked to play Legendary Classic Firefight alone so, idk…

My guess is that this gametype WILL get stale quick, people are going to figure out which reqs work best for what round and people will win every time, and that isn’t fun. What makes old games like pac-man and galaga so great? it’s the concept of getting a high score, but, you can never be Finished. That’s what 343i doesn’t understand, yet, they’ve had a couple games that had it right before hand.

By the way, this game type has really shown how un entertaining the Prometheans are. They just warp around and take bullets like a mutherfugger. Truly annoying. You don’t even know if the soldiers are hurt unless they’re one shot. They have no reaction to taking your damage llolll.
