Go Go Gadget...!

Hi, Spartan Chark here with an exciting proposition!
You are a Spartan. Elite military super soldier, top gun head honcho, humanities best chance for survival. So instead of limiting yourself to picking one loadout with one Armor Ability, let’s put all of the Armor Abilities in the suit! No more scrolling and fumbling and deciding on what might work in your loadout. Like Iron Mans armor or the Spy Hunter car, your Mjolnir Gen2(3?) armor has more than just a few tricks up it’s sleeve.

Complete your Spartan with a Jetpack in the back, Rocket boot thrusters, a built-in active camo module, a deployable auto sentry turret in your gauntlet, Pro-vision visor interface, HardLightShield from your palm, a Regen-field belt buckle thing, and your hologram launcher in your other gauntlet! Well, who cares WHERE the AA’s are stored, you need them all. This is combat EVOLVED! Let’s finish the fight in style; without the clunky armorability node or a physical jetpack protruding from your silhouette!

Of course, not everything can be used at once! Now, you don’t have to die and respawn with a new laodout. EVERYONE is on the same playing field!
Think of it as choosing your DragonShout in Skyrim. D-pad this thing up AND down! You can’t lose!

AND, it’s a new game…let’s jam some NEW Armor Abilities in this thing! SPEED BOOST? OVER SHIELD? MINIATURE SLIP-SPACE DRIVER?(teleportation, just like the Pro-Knights?)
Yeah! Amuricah!

Not sure if serious…

Quite serious, actually. I know there is a number of people who would rather the armor abilities weren’t in the game at all. But, I’m just thinking out loud here. Allowing the AA’s to be cycled-chosen In-game during live combat, instead of dying and respawning to use the Jetpack. And again to use the HLS…etc.

I could see this being quite an issue as someone could basically locate everyone using PV and then sneak up on a identified target with AC.

The guy who wrote Halo: Shield and Sword and A Fistful of Arrows came up with a similar idea, but you could only use them one at a time, and they all fed from the same energy bar. You changed AA by using the Dpad

As a Campaign exclusive feature, it’d be interesting.

After all, dropped AAs are practically obscure in the Campaign. Compared to equipment in Halo 3.

Do I have to bring up that the AAs lack holograms, look similar to each other, and no longer have a ‘you picked up AA’ text?

Also, I did not feel like I was Chief in Halo 4. The promises of parkour was a lie! Thruster Pack was on only 1 mission.

Anyways, who WOULDN’T want to pretend they’re Batman? Batman is awesome. With a play style like this, I felt more like Chief, despite him having inferior performance in that game (with the exceptions of his shield recharge wait time, vehicle exiting time, and equal health and shielding, which are better than they are now. In Halo 4, these issues took 9 months to address).

i like AAs and think they can be easily balanced but god no I’d hate for this to be put in. It would be nice if you could pick up AAs of dead bodies with the feature being togglable in custom games

Is OP trolling, or am I not reading it correctly?

Either way, I think that Armor Abilities should return as MAP PICKUPS! And only as MAP PICKUPS! I prefer balance over awesome features such as the Jetpack, so the Jetpack can return if it is a Map Pickup and not something people can freely spawn with.

Jetpacks the only one I hate since it destroys the map unlike camo, AL, RGF, HG, HLS etc.

Sweet mother of…

It’s gonna require KINECT voice commands!

Go-Go Gadget… JET PACK!!

Hardlight shield pops

… Thanks kinect…

No really to be serious. This is totally NOT a good idea. All armor abilities = freaking Crysis 2 alike fest!

I think Jetpacks would be fine if they were Map Pickups. I consider them to be the powerweapon of the Armor Abilities.

True the should stay in some form (loadout in customs because removing it would ruin some customs)

Except that in Skyrim combat takes place exclusively against very, very stupid AI’s. Even still it’s a little awkward. Now imagine a much less forgiving environment, trying to swap to a jetpack, hitting just a little too much of the Up button, and getting a regen field instead. It’s not so much a matter of tripping up but crashing head first into a wall because confusing an AA in the midst of combat is probably the most jarring thing you could possibly do.

“I need a hologram! Wait, no I’ve boosted forward. DEAD!”

Now I’m totally for “more stuff in the standard Spartan kit” but it has to lead to a consistent control layout. IE. have a jetpack BUTTON, a sprint BUTTON, and button for “other” to take care of the more esoteric abilities. IE. do what Section 8 did because it lead to some fantastic gameplay.

Why don’t we just bring back Armor Lock while we’re at it?

Lolzz

Campaign and maybe multiplayer should let you pick up two abilities but they could not be used at the same time, heck if you get two guns, two or more grenades why not two abilities.

Is it bad if i read this in Shamwow guy’s voice?

OT: Nope. I’d rather not “dpad this” and “dpad that”

Just for that, I’m doing the Billy Mays, and saying “Hi, Spartan Chark here…”
And thanks for your reply. I think using the d-pad to choose from a list of abilities would be a great feature, but you said it yourself, you’d rather not.
I understand.

So lets make the game like Crysis?
