If they have the radar in Halo Infinite, it should go back to the way it was in the first technical preview.
People freaked out over it being different and 343 immediately changed it because they don’t want to upset the fan base because they want to give the fans what they want to increase the chances of the game being as successful as possible
I don’t mind them listening to feedback, but I don’t believe people really give the radar a chance. We had bots for the most part during the first preview and pvp was open for a short period of time.
People jumped all over the radar because it wasn’t the same as before.
Personally, I really liked it. I don’t claim to speak for everyone because I saw people on both sides of the issue voicing their opinions. But, at least give the radar from the first technical preview a chance. Just like playing a game and not understanding the controls for a while until you get used to them.
There were times I was playing today and my opponent was leaving a stronghold and turned around shooting immediately because I know they saw me on their radar. One time I was a level above and I know my opponent didn’t see me because of the angle they were facing, but they turned around and looked up and shot me because they saw me on the radar. There were times where I knew where to search by a stronghold because I saw my opponent on the radar.
That ruins the game in my opinion. It’s like cheating in a way. It’s like playing split screen with your friends and they know where you are because they looked at your screen. Why should this game have this crutch? If someone gets the drop on you and are able to catch you by surprise, tip your cap. You don’t have a radar if it was real life and you were playing paint ball for instance.
Having the radar like in the first tech preview made me not have to constantly glance at the radar. It allowed me to focus on the actual game more instead of trying to gain information from the corner of the screen.
I some people will say “halo has always had a radar”, and you are correct. I’ve played them all since the first on the original xbox. But, grappling hook wasn’t halo until it is now. Vehicles being destroyed wasn’t halo until it was implemented in part 2. Equipment wasn’t halo until part 3. Brutes weren’t halo until part 2. Lock on rocket launcher wasn’t halo until part 2. You can go on and on and on with the changes over the years.
I surely hope 343 gives the first technical preview radar another chance it deserves
In Halo CE there were only two options for the radar; walk and show up or crouch and be stealthy. now in Infinite there are call outs printed on the screen, there are highlights on players as to not be able to hide in a shadowy area along with glint on every scoped weapon, there’s the mark/ping system to point out enemy players area, also the threat sensor which is localized wall hacks in equipment form. Where is the stealth?
I’d rather the radar be useful again and expanded upon and not shortened. Seriously if you make the radar too small then it’s pointless even having it. Radar is one of the main important elements of Halo so to dumb it down would be ridiculous. The radar never felt overly useful in this flight and at no point did I feel like I couldn’t hide or prevent me from having fun despite how useless it was. If people want to be sneaky then don’t go as fast and crouch. From what I can tell about the previous flight it sounds like the radar was awful. Really don’t see the point of a weaker radar that basically makes it like it doesn’t exist.
Totally agree, the radar should only show players that are sprinting, shooting or using abilities. The game becomes super boring when all players are just crouching with ARs out. If it stays like this in launch I hope that they HCS playlist just removes radar totally.
I never got to try the first radar because I didn’t get in. Then they immediately changed it back, give it another shot. I just hate pulling off a good flank, getting ready to blast someone and they turn on a dime pre firing cause hey a dot.

Not buying the bolded, especially considering the god awful progression system and no Jeff Steitzer in BTB

100000% this. I’m not sure how much more they can dumb down the game to point out where the enemies are. It’s basically spoon feeding. Just zoom in and it’ll show you all the red outlines.

There’s enough stealth for so many people to make posts saying the radar doesn’t cover enough ground and they’re getting attacked from behind

There are so many posts of people saying that the radar is too small and they want it larger because they want more notification of enemies being around them.
But I agree with you about the outlines. It does make people stand out so much more than classic red vs blue. To be honest, I can’t see the customization from armor coatings because the outline is so strongly defined. It’s still red vs blue or whatever colors each person sets it to

For BTB…I can see people being upset with radar. It does play small, however the same still does apply for outlines and flashing bright light when someone is scoped in.

Correct. To make it even more useless, is not meaningful. Just bump the range to 25m, otherwise it’s not useful tbh.

Why should we know where enemies are? Even now with the radar covering a smaller distance… If you’re going in a base to steal a flag, why should the person inside know that two people are coming from a radar? Why should they be given the opportunity to throw a grenade to weaken you to give them a chance at successfully defending their spot? Not because they heard you coming, but strictly from the radar.
The radar on the first flight wasn’t bad. People complained about it because it wasn’t implemented the way it was on previous halos. We barley had a chance to use it against other people because pvp was only open for a short time. Most of the time it was vs bots

Sorry but no. A radar that only functions for spirit is going to be useless. It’s already has range issues cuz someone can run up behind you before they even get in range for radar to catch them. The range needs a buff if anything. I don’t want another MLG lead game like 5.
