343 the old zoom was instant, it’s actually canon by lore perspective, and it was much smoother.
this new zoom has a delay, and increase accuracy on guns and gives headshot bonuses on Autos making them op As heck.
Do not say smart scope since this is ADS just with a Descope feature. It still works just about the same with a few minor differences. You did this to please the cod community which I say was a mistake. You were hoping to attract cod players, when it did the exact opposite since it didn’t work in the same way. I saw a kid playing h5 like it was cod one time, dude kept trying to ADS his guns. We’ve seen on the h5 classic br and h2BR that the zoom is instant since they don’t use the ADS animation. This new zoom causes problems in cases because that delay causes problems when trying to zoom back on someone when you’re in a ranged fight. If you tell me there’s no difference between this zoom and old zoom I suggest you go play halo 1-4 then play h5 and tell me they’re the same.
I too have felt that the zoom is different than before. It feels different.

Exactly. Now I’ve gotten used to this zoom, but im not blinded by nostalgia when I say zoom doesn’t feel the same. I feel like from a skillgap perspective it decreases it because that delay on the zoom is such a game changer compared to past halos. But it just another thing that makes you think this isnt halo but thats a story for another topic. Like most people I ask about this games zoom, they dont say its the same this is usually what they say “I mean, ive gotten so used to it so im ok with it”. Meaning theres definitely a difference. Its not ok, it really isnt.
How is the old zoom canon from a lore perspective?

In canon Spartans zoom is activated through their visors which halos 1-4 did. This game requires you to ADS your gun which is non canon. How this occcursd was Spartans linked the zooms on weapons to their visors.
The fastest zoom is Morph sight and even then they’re not instant so what are you on about.
I can’t take you seriously because on the one hand you try to justify classic sight zoom by lore, but you criticise. automatics for having a headshot multiplayer?
People barely zoom in for automatics, and even when they do they stick with body shots. Headshots isn’t that great of an improvement compared to precision weapons.
I think advancing to the new scoping system is good. It caters to new players. Going back to the old system will turn off players.

It might cater to new players… but have you ever thought that it’ll throw the older players off? I’ve played Halo since Combat Evolved, and I miss the classic zoom and not this “Smart-Link” ADS.

I like both the zooms. Maybe there could be a way to compromise. Have different zooms to cater for all types of players.
On a side note, I just want to see the return of night vision mode.

Smart link is the exact same thing. There is a little dot on your gun that is linked to your VISR system so when you bring it up the reticle comes up. There is literally no difference except its not instantaneously like you want.

I find it funny how the covenant have ever so conveniently adopted the same system.

Why? they need to aim too. When they implemented ADS it made sense to add it to the covenant weapons as well since they were all hip fire weapons too. Not all elites or grunts had VISRs so they would need something to aim with too.

We are talking about lore here. I find it funny how the covenant adopted the UNSC’s ideas which make no sense. The covenant never had Smart scoping before. They have it just so that it eases the use of the user.

I actually enjoy the new zoom a lot more than the previous games and yes, I played all the old games over and over (laso included). The new zoom makes everything feel smoother. Actually, now that I think about it, they should have a option to toggle each zoom, to keep everyone happy.
I was pretty annoyed by it at first (and against the addition of it), but I’ve mellowed quite a bit since launch. I’d like to see some tweaks to the system like the removal of the range increase for Melee weapons, but overall once I got it off the trigger it flowed pretty well for me.
While it would make sense lore wise the only weapon I wish they would change is the pistol. I like the way the AR “zooms” just fine. I don’t think autos are overpowered at all. They are just actually useful now which I like. Sorry I don’t like my Halo pretty much a one gun game. I like variety. Before it was pointless to pick up other weapons, now they all fill a niche.
I’m used to the new zoom, but I wouldn’t complain if they went back to the original version.
I really don’t have a problem with the new zoom animation… some weapons went a little overkill on the graphic though, like the Fuel Rod Cannon. Very distracting…
But I wouldn’t say that the old zoom mechanic was “instant.” There was definitely a very brief “zoom” animation to it… but the screen physically changing to the scoped view was pretty quick, yeah…

No difference because you didn’t address it in his post.
Before when you zoomed, it was like your eye became the scope itself, like switching cameras. Now you ADS and get cute little HUD assistance.
The former version was definitely far superior on both gameplay and lore.

Shut up with that one gun crap! Autos in h4 were fine. They weren’t under powered or op. Now I mentioned lore since people who love h5 90% always justify sprint in the game because Spartans can sprint in lore or some bs. Old zoom was much better and for the guy who said it’ll turn new players off, then that’s their problem. They need to know halo isn’t call of duty. Or battlefield etc.
