Hi All,
I recently started having an issue where I could hear/talk to my teammates but couldn’t hear/talk to opposing players in Halo Reach Matchmaking. My teammates can hear/talk to the other players on the opposing team and we aren’t in a party or anything like that. I checked all of my settings against multiple people and everything is the same.I read somewhere about something called a “global mute ban” and that you receive multiple warnings before being ‘globally muted’ but i haven’t received any warnings and didn’t even know about it until I couldn’t hear anyone and started googling what my issue might be.
Does anyone have any additional information about this and how I might go about fixing this issue?

You don’t receive warnings for Mute bans.

Sounds like you have your audio settings to “Party and Team Only” while your friends have it set to allow everyone.

This is most likely the problem. If you were mute banned you wouldn’t hear your own team either.

Thanks for trying to help Bito but how do you know that? All my settings are default and they’re all the same as the rest of my teammates…
Mute Voice : Not Muted
Matchmaking Voice: All Players
Proximity Voice: Speakers
Subtitles: Automatic
Screen Brightness: Normal
Is that not what everyone else has also?
Please excuse my inexperience to forums. I got this game for Xmas, I’ve play without a mic exclusively, I don’t use any mods. From what I’m reading I may have been mute banned? Why in the world can I not unmute others and why in the world am I muted? I went away from Halo because of the bush league behavior, what gives…Any help would be much appreciated. I have been playing Since I think 1995 or something so yeah I enjoy it, but, reading these post and not being able to chat has me getting dressed to trade this in for my beloved black ops. FYI I allow all voice and I don’t hear anything.

Unless you mistyped, you’re saying that you don’t use a mic but you’re also muted???
Either way, you should double-check your audio settings to make sure its set the way you want.
The Cross-out symbol on MM indicates other players that are muted. Sometimes its because they are serving a voice-ban for being naughty potty-mouths and you can manually unmute them.
If you can’t manually unmute them, my guess is that they have parental settings on because parents don’t want their beautiful children to be exposed to adult content while they play an M-rated game (I’m sure that makes sense to someone, somewhere).
If YOUR mute problem is because of parental settings, you will get some such message when you sign in and start the game.
