I wouldn’t mind something like this for multiplayer, kind of like a much more advanced Invasion 2.0 or Big(er) team battle?

that would be hard since hunters are basically a lot worms yuck.
yeah have the invasion mode! but make the background and so on feel like you are in a giant battle and that the areas span kilometers and air vehicle would be essential for transport!

This is what they did with Halo Reach. The problem I see with the battles being so “close” is how shake that camera was. It looks really cool, but for gaming purposes, it wouldn’t be a wise decision. I think this is why most of the large-scale battles were in the background for Halo Reach: such up close action is higly impractical, even by current standards.
anybody played bf4 and remember the screen shaking? yeah it was horrible. but having battles taking close to you doesn’t haven’t to be impractical if implemented right. look at titanfall! yes its not a giant battle but it still makes the game feel more immersive. just have 343 build upon what respawn did!

Beyond screwing around with morphing stuff I’m not sure what the point was either. It DOES remind of the giant brute in halo 4’s intro though.

No, it’s what they wanted to do but couldn’t pull off, like Halo 2’s E3 demo level.
On, and the shaky cam is obviously a deliberate mechanic that could be easily removed. It’s silly in the extreme to write off the entire concept because of it.
If it were done right and planned appropriately then I think it could be a pretty amazing thing to have. Imagine an Earth city getting completely hammered by Forerunner machines like London did in Mass Effect 3.
Now that would be cool.

remember the space mission in reach? what if they would have put that in multiplayer! a team has to battle banshees then destroy a carrier shields and then infiltrate it and destroy it. and suddenly jorge comes and picks you up and throw you off. TEH EDN

I don’t think we should completely rule out grand battles as epic as these, because of shaky cam. It can easily be minimized so that it wouldn’t be as annoying. Things like a Scarab landing nearby is understandable. The bigger picture is the scale and immersion of fighting in a war, and it shouldn’t be overlooked that easily. It can be done right
