Global Battle mode

This mode is would be the most advanced version of social games, the ultimate Big Team Battle.

-With large player counts, 100 players.
-Pelicans, Phantoms and Spirit dropships.
-Large maps, Halo Wars sizes perhaps.
-Space missions like we were supposed to get after Reach, with Sabres, Legends Thrusters, Space Banshees & Seraphs.
-Playable UNSC: Marines, ODST, Spartan III & Spartan II.
Covenant: Grunts, Jackals, Elites / Brutes and Hunters.
(All these NPC’s are playable in original and MCC halo 2, so this isn’t a big ask)

  • Armour Abilities and Equipment, based on Rank.
Only Ranger Elites or Jetpack Brutes can equip a Jetpack.
Whereas only ODST and Spartans can use jetpack.
Marines can’t use anything, but health packs.
    Elites automatically have Invisibility.

-Health System +Medics
UNSC: No regeneration.
Marines health bar + few armour pieces.
ODST’s HUD health bar, lots of armour, can take more damage.
Spartans Shield regeneration, and Armour and health bar.

Covenant: No health packs. +Engineer for extra shields.
Elite Shields, some armour.
Brutes lots of health and can have armour.

Spawns are from destructible Dropships or drop pods.
No spawning on team mates or base.

  • Customization and Unlocks:
    • Weapon Variants,
Regular Sniper Rifle, to Reach Anti-Armour Sniper Rifle.
Rocket Launcher to Lock-On RL variant.
60 Round AR to accurate 32 Round AR.
      SMG to Suppressor SMG.
CE Magnum to Halo 2 Magnum to Suppressor Magnum.
    • Unit Variants,
      Marine to ODST.
      Elite Ultra to Elite Ranger.
Hunters single blast to continuous blast.
      Brute to Armoured Brute.

Class Expansion, (Halo Wars) example: Medic, Sniper, Anti-Armour, Rifleman, Officer.

*This was done in Halo CE successfully by modders over a decade ago.
*Bots/PVE is optional, as a firefight mode, or bots in PvP.
*Should not be balanced, should be immersion focused, Elites should be superior to a Marine.
*Most players should be Marines on UNSC, whereas mixed between Grunts, Jackas and Elites/Brutes.

Rank determined Unit types, however, Squad types should determine what units are played.
For example a low level elite’s squad will only have grunts and jackals, higher level elite’s squad can be entirely elites.

That would be really cool.

This makes me think it could be cool to have some sort of leader system.
They choose where to call various forms of support and things like that, and if they don’t do a good job, people can vote to have them removed from that position, and someone who hasn’t been a leader before in the match is chosen.

That would be great.
I feel like most of the vehicles haven’t really been given enough room.

Yeah, otherwise it would end up like PlanetSide, I think.

Having bots in that mode would be great, but I think (I’m not sure) that having more than 7 bots doesn’t really work in custom games.
Unless they can fix that, having even 50 bots would probably be impossible…

Marines = Grunts
ODST = Jackals
Spartans = Elites and Brutes

I’m not sure what there is for the UNSC that’s equivalent to Hunters.

So are you saying a Battle Royale?

Battle royales are like Free-for-All and Multi-Team with 100 players.
What the topic creator’s talking about sounds more like Big Team Battle, where you’re in a war between two sides.

Nah, it seems like something similar to Halo 5’s Warzone just on a much larger scale

Not really, warzone was a complete mistake, that took away any opportunity for Global Battle, which is just mega Big Team Battle, with Longsword carrying nukes, and driveable Phantoms.

Ai team and enemies was in the Custom Edition “informal global battle”, but not neccessary to the game mode.

Warzone is basically Firefight + Big Team Battle + MMO aspects (hence the giant health bars).
It was a very messy disappointing mode, that nobody asked for.

I’d personally love something like that but I don’t see it happening

This makes me think it could be cool to have some sort of leader system.

The leader system would preferbly be special versions of the Unit types, Sgt Forge, Sgt Johnson, ODST Buck, Spartan 3s, Cat, Carter.

They choose where to call various forms of support and things like that, and if they don’t do a good job, people can vote to have them removed from that position, and someone who hasn’t been a leader before in the match is chosen.

As for a commander system, that’s difficult, as most people wouldn’t want to be Captain Keyes overlooking a battle and making objectives to take X location, or use different tacticss. As for calling for support, well that is different. It should be players controlling Pelicans, dropping of tanks and 10+ Marines as backup. Perhaps a spawn group get sent behind enemies lines, if there is enough troops there. But player controlled support would be awesome.

That would be great.
I feel like most of the vehicles haven’t really been given enough room.

There is so much potential for vehicles. Instead of just a generic role, Brute squads get the prowlers and choppers, elite squads get spectres and Wraiths, grunts get Ghosts.

Phantoms that players can walk in and drive, like the phantom scene with Cat in New Alexandria, that is how operable interior of vehicles should be.

Yeah, otherwise it would end up like PlanetSide, I think.

A FPS Halo Wars is what Global Battle would be.

If they’re not commanders, what would they be doing, and how would they be chosen?

I guess they could do something like Call of Duty (performance-based abilities) instead of getting someone to be a commander.

For the commanders though, what I was thinking is that it could be sort of like Halo Wars but with first-person for the players on the maps, as you said.

The commanders would be marking specific areas (depends on the map) to be scouted, taken, defended or destroyed by squads they choose, and players and commanders would get more rewards for completing those objectives.

The more that players follow their commander’s objectives, the more abilities the commander would have.
They could send a variety of attacks ranging in power, improve the defense of areas, increase the speed that players get requested items and vehicles, and reduce upgrade costs.

Yeah, I wish that there were more opportunities to drive Phantoms, Scarabs, Pelicans and Mammoths.
