I don’t know about anyone else here, but one thing that made Halo’s CE and 2 so enjoyable were the easily exploitable glitches, like super bouncing and getting out of maps.
Who would actually perfer that 343i leaves fun glitches in the game on purpose? Or maybe adds them in so they aren’t technically glitches?
EDIT: Who would want sword cancelling back? I loved that haha.
> Yes, 343 should ensure that people have a way to escape maps and attain ridiculous vantage points. Superbouncing was horrible and often abused.
During MM map barriers would be in place preventing players from escaping the map. During customs people can have a little fun finding all the little glitches in the map.
I’ve been wanting superbounces and other fun glitches implemented into custom games and forge ever since Halo 3 was announced. Out-of-the-map explorations and crazy superbounces were what made Halo 2 the most fun of all the Halos for me. I think I spent more time doing those things with friends and randoms (back in the day when giant parties of recent players used to hop from custom game to custom game) than playing matchmade games!
Which leads to the simple fact that Halo 4 ranking should not force players to have to play nothing but matchmaking MP in order to reach the rank they want to get to. Reach killed off all of those memorable custom games lobbies that were so abundant in Halo 2 and especially in Halo 3.
Wow I made a post like this a while ago didn’t get one single comment…
Yeah I would love them to re-add grenade jumping (which was taken out in Reach/ heavily reduced) back along with the Sputnik skull. It was sweet getting the giant soccer ball and scarab gun and exploring metropolis out of the level. One thing that pisses me of with Reach is how they introduced forgeable kill barriers but then still put them in custom games. So even if you manage to get past a solid kill barrier you die in 9 seconds which is stupid. You can just forge it in for match making and then have a physical barriers in customs/forge.
Yes bring back the fun glitches because the glitches are what made the community stronger like when people found the secret Banshee by trying to force the Banshee through the level that shouldn’t have been there but in Reach they just made everything strict, even in Forgeworld where the player couldn’t get to part of forgeworld due to some random boundary that made no sense.
Glitches are unintentional faults in a game. They aren’t meant to be there and Game Developers try to get rid of them as quick as possible. Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 Glitches were loved by most of the Community but the Halo Community including the Competitive Community have shaped up alot as well.
Glitches like getting out of the map are damn fun during Custom Games but are they not an nuisance when playing Matchmaking Games? Are these glitches treated as skillful because of the way the are achieved or are they deemed unfair because they go against the initial idea of the Game?
You can decide but Game Developers want to get rid of them at best if they can. What we see as being fun, they could see as being broken and evil.
Shorter animations, the allowance of animation cutting and in special cases cancelling is fine by me, and I think it is part of what made Halo 2 feel so slick. The last thing I want in Halo 4 is to not be able to YY. That being said as great as things like the BXR and backpack reloading were in previous games its something that shouldn’t exist now. Halo 2’s upper skill levels were broken by these issues and others, and Halo ce was a different environment. Halo 4’s online would severely suffer if numerous glitches like this existed, especially super bouncing. That being said, the potential for physics and animation manipulation should still be possible just exceedingly difficult and more for the people at High Impact Halo then for MLG players.
That’s my view on the glitch debate anyways.

I actually made a thread about Button Combo’s in the beta forums. I believe it generated about . . . 16 pages of heated discussion between people (mainly the same couple) arguing about them.
When I say glitches, I guess I could also say easter eggs. The H2 scarab gun and soccer ball are two main examples, but sword cancelling and controlled super jumps would be kind of cool glitches that aren’t really glitches if implimented.
With the addition of definable map boundaries through Forge, all maps in Matchmaking should have restrictions on playing area, but should be easily removable in other, non-matchmade variants.
Agreed I believe they should keep ways to get out of maps for forge but not for mm and other fun glitches as long as they don’t deprive from the game NO KILL BOUNDRIES!!!
kill boundaries where my least favorite thing about reach, i like invisible barriers, if they add “glitches” like that into halo4, they need to be things that aren’t in MM, like, by having invisible barriers be forgable, that way you can have custom games with “glitches”
