Glitch with joining on xbl from an offline sp

My son had his account max xp from offline, when he finally joined XBL today it glitched and wont let him get comentations or anything. Can someone help me???

When u first join XBL I believe ur only allowed to bring ascertain amount of credits…since u did so its maxed ur car for the day…he should be ablen to earn cr tomorrow.

Sorry for my mangled sentence…auto correct is evil sometimes

I don’t have personal experience handling this issue but I know Halo games have had restrictions on moving offline accounts online (because of the issues with certain nefarious people hacking into their saved profile when offline to unlock all the goodies.) What the game might need is some other input from you saying “I want to start earning stuff online” although I don’t know nearly enough about these sorts of restrictions to be able to say for sure that THAT’S what you need to do.

What I would also look into is saved file and hard drive issues that may actually be producing a glitch. A handy go-to troubleshooting step is to clear the cache on your xbox 360 hard drive. It simply wipes your system’s temporary memory which would remove any errors propagating from there (without touching any of real saved data). To do this, go into system settings, go to memory, and select the options for your memory unit with the appropriate button press. There you’ll have “clear your system cache” (or something quite a lot like that) and it should only take a moment to do it’s thing.

If that doesn’t work, wait another day or two to see if it’s a small server issue with 343 “getting to know” your son’s account. If nothing changes, consider deleting your sons saved game profile for Halo 4 (not all the content, just the data that’s specifically associated with his gamertag in the Halo 4 “folder” in your hard drive.) That, however (considering he was only using the profile offline) would probably delete his game progress so it is something to only try as a last resort.

The exp was maxed to 130… and it is as a offline spartan but allows it to play as online. Its very confusing???

This account to be exact. I am posting as he is a minor.

Hmmm…that is very odd. It says you have no experience (so hooray for independent confirmation of your problem) despite having played enough to get up to an CSR 7 in one playlist. Unless the system handed down an EXP ban for coming in under suspicious conditions (ie. already max rank despite having very little accessible multiplayer and no spartan ops) that’s one nasty glitch you have going there.

What I would try first is the reset cache thing I outlined above. Next, assuming that doesn’t work, I would toodle around a bit to see if the issue, for example, extended to spartan ops (the special co-op game mode) as well. It would probably help to have the extra information on just what parts of the game are effected and what the game tells you after earning experience (does it simply not do anything or does it go through the show of giving you exp but without any of it sticking?)

Another thing to try is pretty simple, simply turn off the xbox and turn it on again. It almost goes without saying, being the first step to any technological problem, but in “converting” your sons Halo 4 profile from offline to on the game might need a reset in order to work properly with the new online settings. That’s purely speculation, but give it a try anyway.

If you still can’t resolve this here is the link to the xbox support website.

Scroll down to the bottom where you have various assistance options. You have the official xbox.com forum for Halo 4 (which probably won’t be of any more help than here) but also what you have is the chat with an ambassador and contact us options. Chat with ambassador gets you in contact with helpful folks around the community who might be able to help you, and the contact us gets you official Microsoft support.
