How do you defend against the Glassing Beam? Is it just me or does this thing crush armies too easily?

Its underpowered for me! Damn thing can’t even dent a Condor! I say its about right here, its probably better against Infantry anyway. Is there a way to defend against it? Well It has a long cool down and pretty short time, so you’ll lose some units but once its done, you’re home free. Remember to maneuver your units too! It really does help even in the slightest

Yea it’s mostly about whether or not the person getting attacked has some idea of how to avoid abilities.

True true, or how to outplay abilities WITH abilities! Maneuver, duck drop and roll!
i used it in a skirmish and it seemed fine BUT doing the story on heroic and its clearly been overpowered.
even to the point that ive lost a fully upgraded army of high tier units to one shot from it.
So I should clarify what I mean by Glassing Beam is OP- it is OP in the hands of an AI opponent. AI can use the beam and move units to counter you at the same time. I’ve played against AI today several times. Each time this is used against me I get crushed by it even when I move out of the way. Honestly- it seems like I cannot move out of the way fast enough.

Good advice. Counter them hard when you know this is cooling down. Too bad I lose most of my units when the AI spanks me with the Glassing Beam!

Against a human attacker this ability is good. He can only direct the Beam. Seems like the AI can use the Beam, direct troops, and manage bases at the same time.

It seems like AIs in HW2 no longer have the “bandwidth limit” they used to have in HW1 (e.g. the AI is handicapped from things that a real human player cannot do, such as real-time microing each and every single unit, or simultaneously monitoring all movements across the map), which made AIs in HW2 feels vastly less like human opponents than AIs in HW1.
Also, the glassing beam in HW2 no longer has a moving speed limit, which means it can move as fast as you can move your mouse. This combined with the unlimited bandwidth of AIs make it works like a lock-on ability which cannot be effectively evaded. The only way to survive it is to immediately retreat into fog of war.

To me it seems like you cannot out run it. If I’m using air units I will lose at least 2 or 3 of them because of how fast the Beam can move. If there’s one infantry unit in the group I’m done for, as they make your group move so slow. An upgraded Glassing Beam is even worse!
Played 3 games VS AI just now and I was trashed by leader powers. Leader powers are waaay OP in this game!
