Nothing would be more entertaining than for competitves to call me bad just because they can’t see my in-game rank. It would be glorious.
I certainly hope 343 is taking notes for Halo 5, and gives us Ranked and Social playlists in Halo 5, or, if they’re passionate about their baby, a Halo 4 TU.
What makes me laugh is that they think they are getting a ranking system like halo 3. Like separate playlist for ranked and social. Population wont be able to support two playlists.
At the end of the day these people refusing to play until they get what they want is only hurting them getting what they want.

Indeed. They’ll be sitting there with their Xbox Smartglass, drooling as they check their opponent’s CSR before the match starts, silently judging them for a number next to their name, wishing they could do it in-game.

Thats where you are wrong. No one will be checking CSR before a match. The waypoint only rank is useless.
Also people are judged by numbers next to their name all the time. GPA, SAT scores, MCAT scores, sales numbers, 1st 2nd 3rd in any sporting event. Its only natural many would want anumber next to their name in another form of competition, video games. There have been numbers to compare players since the atari 2600, back then it was called high score.

Yeah, myself, and many MANY other gamers prefer to separate games from real life as best we can. So the less we can be judged by numbers in-game, the better, because it happens all too often in the real world.

Being judged by numbers is a fact of life you will have to get used to since it will follow you no matter where you go. There is no escaping it.
Even as it stands now people just KD or in game performance to “bash” you. The fact you are in anyway upset or bothered by what a random person over the internet on a videogame says about your performance in a videogame shows that maybe you are not mentally mature enough for the game.

Right, that college should accept you without looking at test scores! After all, since you do not like to be judged, no one should judge you!

Like I said, me and gamers like me don’t want numbers to track skill because it happens all the time IRL.
I play games to relax and escape from the real world for a few minutes. Not to have some prepubescent -Yoink- bash my K/D.

I play games for fun. The day I think going negative and being detrimental to my team is fun, is the day I quit Halo.
I’d prefer to just have a select few playlists that feature visible skill ranks, with the rest not having them. That way if you aren’t interested in visible skill ranking you could simply play the numerous other playlists, but if you are you’ll have those few playlists catered just to you.
Ultimately I think a divide between ranked and social works best. H3 did it sort of well but had the issue of overall ranks being reliant on highest skill and there being one overall service record in-game rather than separate ones for ranked and social. In my view overall ranks should be progression based (not my favourite system, but most people prefer it) and you should have separate service records for ranked and social, with your ranked record not visible in social playlists and vice versa.
The current system where all players are pushed into the same playlists simply doesn’t work well; laid back players get competitive players in their matches and competitive players get laid back players in their matches, making both truly laid back matches and truly competitive matches a rarity. Mixing these two mindsets hinders most people’s experience.

Oh no please don’t.
No one has ever rage quit Halo before because it didn’t cater to them! That’s not something we need to start. Please reconsider.

Lucky for me, I’m not near negative, and I am never a detriment to my team.

Whew, good.
For a moment there I thought this would be a shallow community that is impossible to please.
