This is pretty straight forward. Halo 5 (and maybe MCC and other Halo’s as well) gave us the option to focus on SBMM, CBMM or something in between. I love to see something like that in Infinite.
I personally don’t mind waiting for a game a bit longer if that results in lower ping.
I don’t know if low ping matches are the solution. Remember that desync happens on LAN too. I had some good matches at 120 ms ping, and terrible ones at 20 ms. But if you’re getting matches over 150 they definitely need to address that.
You are right, i experience desync even on matches with 30 ms ping.
But matches with 130+ ms ping and desync are a nightmare.
Plus, i dont know if everyone has the same ping in the match. I guess that when im connected to a server with 130 ms ping, other player have 20 ms ping because its their local server.
This results in an unfair match because sbmm doesnt care about ping.
I get the argument that you all are making. But I feel like as a principle we shouldn’t have to make the sacrifice of longer wait times for lower ping matches. As it is, this is not nearly as much of an issue in MCC as it is in Infinite. 343 needs to make it so that we don’t have to wait for very long for low-ping games, full stop. Anything less is just unacceptable.
Getting matches over 150 is the only option to a lot of people, since 343’s matchmaking system seems to default to connecting us to the US instead of nearby servers.
