Give us a reason to win, give us a reason to care!

So pretty much this is twofold, give us a reason to want to win, had you not given us a progression system this wouldnt be a point of discussion at all but here we are. Simple extra exp to win, otherwise you’re going to continue have a bunch of selfish people ignoring the objectives and going straight for kills and challenges.

Now secondly as a long term Halo fan…let us revel in that victory, show us our scores at the end, let us know how bad we played so we can improve, let us see how much -Yoink!- we kicked so we can push forward, let us spend a moment or two with our teammates, to tell them how well they did and a quick gg. Its just so stale at the moment, a game ends you get a win, or a loss and off you go, screen goes black and back you go to the next fight, not really any reason to feel good about a victory…or bad about a loss.

Now thats a bad thing. No I dont think a loss should have any penalty, but not reward for victory makes a loss just as pointless, and completely defeats the purpose of playing for anyone but yourself. Now perhaps 343 fear that making someone feel bad for losing is bad for business, its not, hell even letting us trash talk each other after a bad game isnt even bad, it spurs us on to want to keep playing (profanities aside) and being struck with a loss where I can earn more for playing better, just wants me to keep playing so Im on the winning side. You gotta rethink these two small things that will in my opinion increase the longevity of the game, and return to prior form of past games.

Maybe I’m an old school gamer, but I’m just playing for the thrill of it and to have fun. Winning is great and there’s no other reason I need.

I said this in another topic, even if I lost exp for winning, I would still try to win every game.

I agree, except its my competitive side that wants that good old fashioned scoreboard at the end to pat my ego, but I digress. Im trying to win and play the objective like any other Halo Ive played, but as in other topics some are corrupted by this battle pass, as playing the game normally rewards them nothing…hell this isnt even the first Halo to do this, as people were scrounging for achievements back in Halo 3 for the katana…but this just feels off, at least there those achievements you had to get were rewards for quite hard feats…while these are quite mundane challenges which continually repeat for the reward of exp, and until they are given either an incentive to do otherwise…some games are just going to be frustrating because sometimes the whole team isnt in it for the team.

I mean contrary to what others are saying I don’t think there are many challenges that are conducive to losing or working against the team. Any examples are welcomed.

The challenges are infinitely more fun to me than just doing well and gaining exp for killing 30 players with a BR. I’m picking up a much larger variety of weapons than I was before and playing on different ways.

I typically don’t respond to these threads because they’re just tiresome and there’s no actual way of changing your opinion. It just gets into a dead end debate which I really done have time for.
I’m not going to reply to anyone who replies or quotes because I’m really not willing to drain my energy into a debate over something that already has simple answer.

There was never a incentive to win in other games. Where was the incentive to win in Reach, 4 & 5?
You didn’t exactly get a huge bonus for winning matches, it wasn’t even noticeable amount of XP.
Another 100 XP that goes towards the millions required to hit max rank. That’s hardly a incentive.

It wasn’t a problem then but it’s suddenly a problem now? I don’t buy into this at all.

What ever happened to fun? Is that not a thing anymore.
So we all have to grind really hard to get a BattlePass complete in a week that’s meant to last 6 months.
Or we have to have a incentive to win in a arena shooter. Your objective is to win in a match, that’s the whole point.

Is the current progression system perfect? No.
Are 343i working to address the issues? Yes.
Is it going to change overnight? No.

You seemed to have missed the first sentence I wrote, if this progression system never existed I wouldnt care for an incentive to win. What I want back are those post game lobby credits, seeing your score and the enemy, talking to them or instantly leaving cause you got blasted so hard, those sorts of shenanigans. Now you get thrown back to a quiet lobby on your own see your own starts, and a rather tedious set of menus to see how everyone else did.
