I appreciate the email telling me that Infinite is going live on December 8th, and trust me I’ll be there, but there was one thing you included in your email to us;
‘Preorder Halo Infinite.’
I’d love to, but… why?
It’s a digital download, like all games are now. (Seriously, why do they even make disc anymore?)
So… that guarantees that the game will be available to everyone because it is digital, and not limited in production quantity. So why would I give my money to you early for something I am going to get either way? Do I get anything out of pre-ordering?
Seriously, I need to know. Will I get a season pass for pre-ordering? Exclusive cosmetic content? Play the game a day early?
Is anyone going to preorder this game without getting something extra out of giving them your money early?
If so… why?
I’m predicting something with pretty minimal real benefit ala ‘skip 20 tiers of the Battle pass’

Bold - because there are still lots and lots and LOTS of people who can’t get good internet in the WORLD (stop thinking just a North America) not to mention a decent data plan.
Also, some people like an physical item.
Quote taken from microsoft website: “Preordering the game from Best Buy or GameStop will net you some exclusive cosmetics in-game. Specifically, you’ll get access to the Zeta Sky armor coating skin and weapon coating skin, both of which feature a sky blue coloration with white, black, and gray accents. Players who preorder from Best Buy or GameStop will also get a unique Banished-themed Chosen emblem and nameplate.”
Aside from the steelbook there’s not much shown in terms of pre-ordering, you also get a weapon charm for buying the elite series 2 controller they just showed off today. No bonuses for the limited edition series X it seems which I thought was surprising and am still kinda hoping there’s at least like a coating or a helmet or something.

This, some of us like to Collect Steelbooks, I own every Halo Steelbooks & Limited Editions (Except for HW2 & MCC) and can’t wait to add Infinite to the shelf
This 100%. Why in the world would I pre-order a game that is overpriced in my region, and that contain to our current knowledge nothing but a campaign we do not even know anything about yet?
343, please rethink your strategy. You can’t present all this additional stuff like a console, a controller, and in-game monetization so heavily if we do not even know yet what we are buying into. Adjust your course, this is not the way.
Like, preorder, and get a code to a flight or beta, or stress test?
Grunt emblem?
I’d like a couple stickers. Or a pin.
“It’s a digital download, like all games are now.”(Seriously, why do they even make disc anymore?)

Well, because a game was actually Finished when it went gold, and the master was mass produced. And you’d have crazy midnight launches.
Now we get games as a service, partly finished.
Cutting out the middleman didnt help prices or development. Sigh.
After halo 4 I never preordered another halo game.
I will always buy a physical copy when possible.
Physical copy has more value than digital to me.

True story.
At all, everything I buy when the game is released, is just the campaign, MP is free.
Hard to explain to someone who never read news about Halo, just see the game in he store and asking, why he had to pay 60€ to just play the campaign when the MP is free to play. Like he will ask why is there no forge and why can’t I play co-op?
Pre-ordering is bad practise. You should only pre-order if you’re incredibly confident in the product you are ordering (and even then its a risk). OP, and most people on these forums, don’t seem all that confident. I’d recommend not pre-ordering.

You have data plans? Ouch that sucks in the uk it’s mostly unlimited data
Big old halo fan here since day 1 i normally pre order all halo games and play straight away however the way things are these days with all games i rarely now pre order anything as most games are buggy and have issues on day of release and sometimes for weeks maybe months and to be honest i was so disappointed with halo 5 and dont feel we have been shown enough of the campaign to really convince us that this halo game will be worth pre ordering and will be a massive improvement over halo 5 especially when it comes to story… i dont know i just feel like since 343 took over halo my excitement for the halo game releases are gettimg less and less when it comes to expectations.
