Best idea ive heard in a while

would be good if it was only slightly faster like 105%
just enough to make strafing better

It depends on the increase to movement speed. With sprint you get that delay from stopping the sprint action to being able to fire your weapon. If the perk speed was close to the sprint speed it would be bad but if it was only a slight increase that would improve strafing then I would dig it.

  2. “Overdrive” might work as a title for it. Constant increased base speed (and only base speed) with no sprint. However not as great a boost in speed as sprint allows but perhaps said ability can work if so.

Im not sure about Halo 4 but in Reach , the sprinting ability wasn’t as beneficial as H3’s MLG movement speed. So basically saying if the 2 were in a race at the same starting point, the one with higher movement speed would finish 1st due to the cool down time of sprint.

this sounds like a great idea, i would love to see it.

the speed would have to be what ever half of sprint movement speed is. IE- if sprint make you nove 125% faster forward, theis would be 112% in all directions.

i would defiantly use this perk.

I think it would depend on how it was used. If you do use the higher base movement speed I’d say the package/upgrade would be disabled when an objective is picked up like the flag or an odd ball.

Now if the speed increase is enormous than yeah you’ve got a point, but I think with the right amount of tuning it could be equal to that of someone not using the “Overdrive” Package (love the name MC)

But this is what the Speedboost power-up is for. It would just have to disable to Sprint to work the way you want it to.

This actually sounds like a very good idea. Could be added into another specialization, which promotes the ability to unlock even more armor, a new weapon skin, and an armor mod which promotes the ability to move faster on foot, while sacrificing the ability to sprint. This could be a tactical package, since using this would render Mobility useless.

I personally like this idea. It could bring back professional Halo.

Let’s be honest, if Halo4 is trying to allow players a way to find their niche playstyle… Perhaps if not H4, H5 would be a place for this.
As stated by a few, the ability isn’t as fast as sprint, it’s just enough to make strafing feel more useable to those that don’t really use new tactics.

Not just this ability but I would also like Commando.
Commando would allow players to start with 2 secondaries. Holding weapon swap allows players to toggle dualing while tapping weapon swap allows players to toggle through either in the right hand when using just 1 or swap hands when dualing.
And NO 0.75 DAMAGE MULTIPLIER!!! Straight up dualing, maybe an increase in spread/lessening of magnetism but don’t reduce the damage per weapon.

Again, if it’s about player style, allowing for an ability to use older types of styles would be beneficial to the community sandbox, not a hindrance.

or perhaps a heavy armor perk that decreases body damage by 5% or something but you can still headshot people with 5 shots of the br for example. you could then sacrifice sprint and reduce the movement speed by 10%.

i would love to see that and something more like the evade armor ability again.

or at least a patch when they give it a little bit more of distance (not like the ones of binary sniper or the flood of course) but a little it more.

why not make it as useful as it is in BiRi slayer? with a 3 second cool down of course.(1.5 with the perk)

i mean they let you see through walls and fly through into the air WHILE shooting and start with a shotgun and a mini sniper and the ability to go in invisible and call down rockets and snipers at your feet, why NOT have a good evade in the game?

I would rather sacrifice mobility and dexterity first. The field packages made you feel like a real spartan but those two don’t feel like Halo should be.

They really don’t they should just be removed from the game.
