Give the remakes some cool names.

Ok be creative but try to make some sense. What do you think the 3 known maps will be called?

So far we for sure know that their will be… (shhh about Timberland or w/e else Halo PC map. Those are sorta straight up speculation)

  1. Hang em High/Tombstone
  2. Battle Creek/Beaver Creek
  3. Damnation

Example:

  1. Hang Man
  2. Bullet Creek
  3. Eternity

Lets think of some cool names for the remakes. If you have other random maps that you hope are remade you can give those new names also.

Bullet Creek’s a cool name, but if they rename Damnation I’ll lose my -Yoink-.

I cannot be the only one who gets confused when playing in the classic multiplayer with the remake maps. They should change the names to the ORIGINAL names of the maps from halo 1-3. So that way we have a better idea of what we are voting for before the game starts.

If you had the choice though… What would you rename them?

> If you had the choice though… What would you rename them?

I wouldn’t even if I had the choice.

Why not just keep the names? >.>

Exactly. They’re H:CE names for HCEA maps … more or less. And I really prefer to play on a remake of Battle Creek that’s also called Battle Creek instead of something else.

The classic Halo thing to do with remakes is to give them a new name. Therefore, I hope these maps get some new names… The only reason the Forge World ones are confusing to me is because the banner image is obviously for Forge World, and not for the map we’re actually playing. I never know what to vote for by titles alone, but with banner images for these maps, I’ll be able to identify them fast, and once I know their new names, I’ll be happy. Just please stick to the renaming tradition. Most maps play differently when recreated in a different game (if Blood Gulch to Hemorrhage isn’t a prime example of that, I don’t know what is). I’ve always love how in Halo games, the name reflects the differences. You can make a Lockout to Blackout comparison thread, and people who have truly played the hell out of both will know exactly what differences you’re talking about when using the separate titles. To me, that gives a truly warm feeling.

Fact is, Halo remakes are never 100% accurate. Each Halo engine has handled drastically and subtly different than the last, and translating these maps into Reach language will be no exception to that rule. When discussing how much I hate Certain Affinity for changing the slightest little thing in my favorite maps (which I’m sure I will), I’d like to be able to refer to the versions by different names, as I always have. Please afford me the luxury to do so. The separate names give me mental room to appreciate each map separately. It’s an illusion, but to me it’s an important one.

The only maps I think are cool with the new names is the “blood-based series”, i.e Blood Gulch, Coagulation, Hemorrhage. That was just funny, IMO.

As for the upcoming HCEA maps, I don’t think that new names would be that great. First it was Battle Creek, then Beaver Creek. What’s next? Bush Creek? -Yoink!- Creek? XD

Like the dude above you said. You have to give them new names because they are technically a new map. Come like Halo 5 do you want to be like “They should really bring back Damnation Reach”? It’s a ton easier if they just have new names. They aren’t 100% Identical give them new names. And this thread isn’t about if you think they should or shouldn’t give them new names. It’s about making up your own new names. We are all of topic and this thread didn’t work like intended.

Hang’em High : Outland or Ace High
Beaver Creek: Fire Creek
Damnation: Covenant Barrage
Timberland: Bjarmaland

Sorry, I thought this thread was speculating what the maps will be renamed to, so I didn’t know I was off topic. I do think you should change the topic, though, and recreate this thread when all the maps have been unveiled. It’s much easier to rename the maps when we know what they are.

I don’t have an issue with using the original names on this special occasion.

But… I would prefer if the Battle/Beaver Creek map was named Battle Creek instead of Beaver Creek. Battle is a much stronger map name if 343i decide to use original names.

On topic, if Hang ‘Em High does need a new name, it should definitely be High Noon I think. It fits the scheme of using cowboy films for that maps’ names. And I don’t think it should be avoided just because a Forge World remake has already used that name.
