Give the Recon :(

  • It has been almost 10 years since the game came out and it is difficult as not impossible to get the Recon for Halo Reach, as there are few codes to get the helmet.

No, they shouldn’t give out Recon. You can earn the base Recon helmet in the game. As for the UA version, you can still find codes if you look hard enough. A couple of years ago, I found that my local Wal-Mart was selling a few copies of the Collectors/Legendary Edition which included a code for the UA Recon Helmet and the Elite Officer Skin. Even after the game has been out for so long, I still managed to find the code. If you want it bad enough, you will look for the code. Otherwise, it was a special item that if you missed, it is your loss. I missed out on a lot of items. I missed the Blue Flaming Helmet and Nameplates, the Legendary Red Flaming Helmet, as well as the special Gamestop Pre-order Chest piece. Would I want them? Yes, I would want them. But I missed them so that is my loss. I don’t want them to just be given out to me. Just giving out the items that were special unlocks/pre-orders/etc is just a slap in the face to the players who managed to get them when they were first offered. So no, they should not give them out regardless of how long the game has been out.

Also there are plenty of Recon codes on ebay for like $7-$12 you can get.

Exactly. All you have to do is look hard enough if you want it.

Or just play the game like everyone else.

The helmet that is being discussed is the UA/Tier 3 variant that only comes from a preorder code. If you want this specific Recon Helmet and not a generic one, only the code will unlock it, no amount of playing the game will unlock this variant of Recon. On a side note, due to the nature of this variant, you can unlock tier 3 of the Recon helmet before tiers 1 and 2 if you use the code on a new account.

I rocked Recon (the voucher version) for about 2 days before I got sick of it. Haha

Honestly, I love the ODST set myself…well…except the piece. I have one that gives me a robot arm that has the description of “Remember, it’s FEET first when you land.” or something like that. The Recon helmet is nice, but it just is kinda meh to me.

OP didn’t specify he just said Recon

Normally I’d agree with his but I mean come on. It’s a dying game a 10 year run is amazing but everything dies. Who cares if they give people the option to buy a special code with credits.

why should you get something for no reason? its rare for a reason, if everyone had it, then no one would want it

Who says Reach is dying? I haven’t seen anything that would prove that. If anything, I’ve been seeing more people leaving Halo 5 and going back to Reach. There are several thousand people that still play Reach to this day. Also, I managed to get Recon in Reach via a code I bought from the store. I’d be pissed if they just started giving it out/ making it accessible to everyone. That’s just a slap in the face. How I see it, you missed it so you missed it, your loss.

That number doesn’t pass 20,000 really including customs. Don’t get me wrong reach is still my favorite game I love it so much but back in the day when every day it had an average of at least 200,000 players in matchmaking alone…I’d say the game is dying. You can say the same about 3 still has thousands of players but compared to what other games have to that it’s a dying game.
and this isn’t about halo 5 hoho trust me that’s another topic all in its own.
I will forever love halo but it is what it is.
they need to remaster reach imo
Edit:
Also that number was present even after the launch of halo 4 and only really started going down significantly around the end of 2013

Well still, they should not give out Recon, or any of the special preorder/unlocks for Reach. You missed them than that is your loss. I missed the Blue helmet, which would be cool to have, but I missed it and don’t want it given to me.

With that when the game is the main game I 100% agree. Just when it’s 10 years old who cares.
for me it’s more as in I don’t want it to be given out but if it does oh well

i see you and raise you to eternal armor effect, now thats something you can no longer aquire

Considering the OP stated using a code to unlock Recon, the only Recon Helmet in Halo: Reach that can be unlocked this way is the Tier 3/UA. I feel the OP stating the use of a code would imply this based upon given circumstances.

Make all this locked stuff available through purchase via credits in game, and don’t lock anything behind pre orders or special purchases etc. in future games. It’s never been a good idea in any game and never will be.
