The Binary Rifle should be one of the deadliest weapons in the game. That was the idea behind it, was it not? I mean, it’s an ultra-rare REQ and basically shoots laser beams. What’s not to like?
First off, I want to go ahead and say this gun way way too OP in Halo 4. Thankfully they fixed it (somewhat) for Halo 5.
But I’m still upset with the amount of ammunition the Binary Rifle hold when you spawn one. How many rounds do you get, 6? The Sniper Rifle and Beam Rifle has something around 12 shots, right? I don’t see what the point is if spawning a sniper with less ammo and a laser sight that reveals your location to everyone on the battlefield.
I’m not saying that I hate the Binary Rifle. I love it, and it’s probably the most badass weapon in the game. But it’s just not worth wasting the REQ points on it if I could just spawn a different sniper with more ammunition and no laser-sight. Give it more ammo, and it will be more comparable to the Sniper Rifle and Beam Rifle.
Some people may find the Binary Rifle easier to use because if you body shot it will still result in a kill. So they may have halved the ammo because it would take two body shots from another type to kill. Does that make a bit of sense? I was wondering it earlier but my theory may explain it. If they had more ammo it could make it very OP.

I 100% agree. Right now you get more bang for your buck for a Sniper Rifle or a Beam Rifle.

If it was a one hit body kill, then it would as OP as it was in Halo 4. Besides, it’s very difficult to keep the laser beam targeted on the enemy throughout the entire shot. That requires some extreme skill that not all players have, so there should definitely be more ammo. I’d say 10 rounds would make perfect sense, as the other snipers hold 12.
If they increased the REQ level by one, it might help to balance added ammunition. What they could do is slightly increase the damage and kill time and raise the REQ level slightly, and it would feel so much more useful. As is, it works, but it doesn’t feel that effective.
Question. In campaign, let’s say hit a soldier with one shot of the binary, change over to a magnum or dmr and hit them again and get the kill. Does this also apply to warzone?

Provided your Binary Rifle shot broke the armor of the Soldier or shields of the Spartan, one head shot should kill them.

I believe the Retina of the Mind’s eye has 4 lasers per magazine, for a total of 2-3 magazines. And it’s also an ultra-rare.
But I agree. Make the standard have up to 5 magazines and it’s great!
But something that makes absolutely NO sense is how the laser that lasts for like 1 whole second doesn’t insta-kill if you keep the beam on your enemy. But they probably aren’t buffing it in that aspect, that’s what the REQ Variations are for.

Cool story bro. Now lets get real. It needs more ammo to compensate for the difficulty of use. It’s inferior to every sniper rifle in every way. If you have a pulse and any sense of patience, bullet magnetism in H5 practically gives you head shots. I don’t care if it kills in one body shot when the entire shot has to connect. It’s extremely easy to dodge with all the new mobility mechanics and the GIANT laser it emits, showing the world where you are. On top of that, it has 6 rounds and does crap damage to vehicles.
