Give me one valid reason for the mute ban

It is hands down one of the worse things implemented in Reach. I have yet to see atleast ONE reason for it. All it does is permanently mute people, who might not even deserve it, it’s catering to idiots who can’t be bothered to use the Team/Party audio settings, and it makes this game even less social. I see more mics in Halo 3 in 2 games than 15 games of Reach…

People get mute banned for just a few games of MLG. You play a little MLG and you no longer hear anyone unless they’re in your party on unmute you. How does that make sense? Tons of innocent players lose their privilege to speak because of it.

EDIT: I would also like to add that I’ve seen people who are mute banned because they were talking to friends in a different language, even if they know English. What the hell, how is that right at all? If someone unmutes them, they’ll probably be like “oh foreigners I don’t want to listen to them.” Remute.

Try and educate me, I dare you.

Who cares? It’s better to play in party chat anyway.

Makes the game less social? Barely anyone uses their mics as it is and from my experience, every person who I’ve seen mute banned deserved it after I unmuted them and heard their dribble of BS. Not to say I’m a huge advocate for it, but you’re reasoning isn’t very concrete.

> Who cares? It’s better to play in party chat anyway.

Sorry, that didn’t answer my question.

Okay. Go play some MLG. You get unfairly mute banned there since everyone is lazy and can’t use Team/Party settings. Most people there who are mute banned are nothing like what you said.

Try again.

Frankly, we all know nobody will ever answer your question. You are entrenched in your position and no matter how good of an argument someone makes, you’ll never concede. Nobody ever does with threads like these.

Why would I concede? HAHAHA you Waypoint kids are killing me.

Why would you concede? It depends on the intention of this thread, old friend.

If your intent is to have a logical discussion in which you try to persuade others of your views, and if someone were to provide a logical explanation for the mute ban’s existence – one which fully justifies its effects on innocent players, and which proves that the pros outweigh the cons – then that would be valid grounds to concede. Such an explanation is obviously impossible to formulate, yes, but if it existed it would, in a logical discussion or debate, be a valid cause to concede.

If, on the other hand, your intent is simply to scream your opinion at all passers-by, and then indiscriminately ridicule them when they express their own opinion even when they state outright that it’s not notably opposed to your own… Then you’re on the right track, though you may want to be careful not to step over the line and violate the forum rules regarding flaming.

I thought you said you would never post over here, at least thats what i read over there a few days ago. What is this thread, because you talked enough crap over there to assume you are up to no good.

Anyway, you want a valid reason, here is one.

Since we have children playing this game and online play is not rated, bungie put the mute ban into place to shelter children, who regularly come into contact with crap talking try-hards. I would further assume if you are playing adults and talking alot of crap then sooner or later you will get a mute ban.

I have had this conversation about the mute ban countless times. Nobody I’ve talked to about thinks it’s right or it’s implemented poorly.

If someone can actually give a single GOOD reason for it, than I might concede.

There are ‘Mute all’, ‘Team/Party’, parental controls, hell, it isn’t that difficult at all to mute someone. Lazy people shouldn’t be catered to.

There isn’t a single good reason for it. Team and Party settings do the same job, if you are to lazy to just mute the annoying ones in the lobby.

The only reason is that Bungie decided that there wasn’t enough useless bans in Reach, they added this.

Lol Boom good luck with these Waypoint kids.

I agree, but the lazy ones always find a way. People are starting to cry about being able to buy cR. if that goes into effect that will mark the day i am totally done with this game. I would not be suprised if halo4 has a way you can buy your way to the highest level. Look at all the apps out there, if you are willing to go the easy route, then why not?

Ask and you shall receive LOL. Players that conduct themselves in this way should have the ability to speak to others removed, so that every player that plays them does not have to take the time in a game to mute this kind of behavior.

You’re treading dangerously close to the flaming line. Keep it clean, please.

Best clip yet!

It takes less than two seconds to hold Back, mouseover a person to be muted, and hit X.

A considerable number of innocent people are wrongly mute-banned – including the overwhelming majority of people that play the MLG playlist regularly – just to save everyone else the minimal amount of time and effort it would take manually mute players. The benefit it gives to players is too small even to measure, but the problems it causes for innocent users that get mute-banned are quite severe; the cons dramatically outweigh the pros.

Thats the gift that keeps on giving LOL, if you listen real close you can hear a smoke alarm with low batteries chirping in the background, how anybody can ignore that is beyond me.

It is hard to hear anything other than him going ballistic.

Because scrolling down to their name and hitting ‘mute’ is totally inconvenient for people.

The funny part is that Bungie encourages you to mute people on the other team. Take the time and read the info feed thing while searching for games. it says to mute the other team for whatever reason. An thats just crazy. It seems like I have been mute banned since day one of playing.

You put a option to mute people in the game for a reason…
