cause i cant think of one. 343 is repeating the same mistakes as in halo 5 but with a different coat of paint. im just disappointed
Less you split the population, the better the match results across the board.
They’re probably trying to ensure that most people have a positive experience at the start to convert them into regular players.
I’m assuming we will get more soon, when they can confidently split the concurrent population more. They probably also want people to get hyped for these events I used to love Fiesta in H3 but barely played it in in H5 part of that is probably because in H3 I’d blink and it was gone.
I’ll be disgusted if you get a reply… except this one… or one saying there’s no reason
There is no excuse & if they do the same with more popular modes such as Infection or SWAT, I fear for the long term retention of this game.
Best answer I’ve come across is that if fiesta is up too long it’s playerbase dwindles. If it’s on rotation, people tend to hop on in bigger numbers when it’s up. The only modes that doesn’t make sense is no dedicated slayer and no dedicated SWAT as those have always been very popular.
With the system in MCC, wouldn’t you be able to play against a pool of all players if you selected all options? What would be the downsides to that kind of system compared to what we have?
Fiesta staying would make a lot of challenges easier, and would encourage players to not buy skips
(Probably)
Everyone picks slayer only and if you have everything selected you will get slayer 9/10 games. I kind of prefer the veto system in H3 where you get one free reroll but then you’re stuck with what pops.
If only a small number of players want to play objective, what’s the problem with them having to wait a little longer? If you’re okay with playing everything, and you get Slayer most the time, why would you care? Maybe there’s something I’m missing. Personally, if I wanted to play capture the flag, I would rather wait a few minutes to find a match than have to play ball over and over again in hopes of playing Capture the Flag.
That’s true, my only issue has been that you get really lopsided teams when a playlist is low pop.
The MCC system is really great if you like popular options, but very poor if you want to play something less popular.
Firstly it takes away the random selection as if you select everything, the things most people are searching for will come up disproportionately and you’ll play the same thing over and over.
Secondly it makes any less popular settings worse in general as due to less people searching for them, the game criteria or matches on must be widened meaning that skill, or connection could be largely affected.
People want more ranked options, but it’s already split 3 ways. To get games with good connection, balanced, at every skill tier, at all times of day, in every playlist requires an extremely high population and any time more factors are introduced (such as playlist splits) it can make all these things worse.
So by filtering all players into less playlists they can improve overall match quality across the board. Although it can be argued it’s better to let people have more choice and let the population decide what they want to play, just got stale for me personally. It’s why I’m against the map voting system as I remember playing the same 2 maps in team snipers all day on Halo Reach, every day.
From a cold-hearted emotionless business perspective, it’s to keep people coming back for special events.
From my own perspective, there isn’t a single good reason and it detracts from the game experience.
