Enough said. Craig would look much more menacing and detailed with some facial hair and spiky teeth.
I don’t necessarily mind the lack of hair. At least for some. Pavium and Voridus look great with shaved heads, and Atriox has some sort of facial hair routine he goes through every morning. But the teeth thing is a really good point. The Brutes aren’t known for their dental hygiene, and they are pretty voracious carnivores. So the old school spiky teeth like we saw with Tartarus seems appropriate. Hope we get more of that.
For whatever reason, I watched like 6 brute videos last night (no more reach brutes plz) and I gotta say, I don’t mind the shaved brutes. Hair can have a lot of subtle implications about culture (the word barbarian comes from hairstyles choices). What I really hope to get out of it is a fight with a very angry gorilla. Those two ODST types in the trailer (looking at you Craig) really seem to capture that aggression.
Overall point, maybe the hairstyle choices will be used to reflect a highly disciplined group of fighters that keep up their appearances for whatever culturally important reason 343 picks.
I just wish there was more variety with Brute appearances, honestly. I guess it may make sense when it comes to a military organization trying to standardize their troops to have them all shaved, but with a fast and loose structure like it seems the Banished have, I don’t think there would be that kind of uniformity.
I think it’d be cool to have a lot of variety not only in their armour but also their actual bodies. Would like some how you want and some like Craig. Leave Craig alone he’s just a single father trying to provide for his kid.
Different kinds of facial hair style WOULD be pretty badass. Like the new soldiers in the ranks of the banished are clean shaven with just better and more detailed textures to make them look more rough and tough. The Higher ranking brutes could have much complicated levels of hair making them look more like Atriox or Tartarus the more combat they see.
