Give 343i a break...

As someone said (I have forgotten his GT): “Well, it’s been quite quite a time since 343 doesn’t make a game. Just remember, CE was also buggy as hell.”

Yeah, it is annoying be suited up with level 60-70 pros, bad spawn killing spawns in SO, being constantly killed by power weapons, etc. but it is 343i’s first attempt.

I’m sure Halo 5 they will be much better. They may have tried to create a game to suit all audiences, and they probably noticed through all of the hate on the forums that that was a bad idea. The game has gone gold, there’s only so much more they can do to fix it. They tried, and I’m sure will learn from their mistakes.

That’s all fine and good, but Halo 4 is all we will have for presumably the next 3-4 years, and 343 needs to understand that and not just say “we’ll do better next time” and start fixing the game with patches. It can be a great game.

CE had maybe 1/10th the budget.

CE and Halo 4 do have a slight similar feeling now that I think about it.
Equally as buggy and lots of people call CE trash and they are now COD fans.

OP is all very true.

bla bla bla, nobody will give a damn about halo 5 with the way this is headed, Bungie’s Destiny, Blizzards Titan, Trions Defiance will be the next big thing…plus COD will still be there

They got their break when they got their fat pay check and bonuses. Don’t let them fool you. They don’t care about the community.

Guys, please, just watch the Social Skirmish episode and be done with it. This is the definitive nailing of all major issues. Presented as politely as it can be.

The more and more I get on these forums, I’m getting to the point where I think I’m just going to take a break from here. People can voice themselves, but personally I’m tired of all the negativity. I enjoy the game, so I’m going to play it. Sometimes reading the threads on here, I fell like I’m the only one who actually does enjoy this game

Sorry, I’m not giving them a break.

Imagine, for a minute, how much better Halo 4 could have been had they not wasted development time for Halo: CE Anniversary. They could have had at least another year on Halo 4, which would have translated to a better overall product.

I’m not giving them a break because it’s not like they were developing the game in a vacuum. They knew the successes and failures of each Halo before it and they knew the process Bungie took for each, including such things as multiplayer betas. They summarily ignored all these things. The lack of a multiplayer beta is showing now with terrible netcode not ready for prime time and gaping holes and exploits in maps that - all of which would have been caught in a beta.

I’m not giving them a break because they have a massive budget to work with and this is the best they could do? A copy/paste of COD/Battlefield elements while simultaneously ditching Firefight and gutting custom games and Forge? A campaign that assumes everyone has read The Thursday War, and is disjointed (at best) or confusing (at worst) for folks who have not read the aforementioned book?

I’m not giving them a break because it’s clear Microsoft is pulling the strings and if you go back and do some internet digging you’ll find some articles about how Microsoft was trying to pressure Bungie into releasing a Halo game (specifically Halo 3) with the launch of the Xbox 360. Bungie stood up to them and said no. They would have a Halo game when they were ready. Epic Games saved Microsoft’s butt with Gears to keep the shooter crowd happy in lieu of Halo. But with Microsoft now fully in charge of the pocketbook, 343i won’t be able to stand up against them.

This franchise is moving headlong into “milk” mode which started with Halo: CE Anniversary (which never needed to exist since Halo: CE is perfectly playable on every X360 in existence). If a new Xbox is out by next holiday season you can bet your rear ends there will be a Halo title to go with it at launch.

So give them a break?
No.

I don’t want to see this franchise turn into Microsoft’s attempts to cash in on the COD/Battlefield/EA Sports marketing strategy of “release a new, incremental, version every year”.

I used to feel this way (back on b.net–much worse). You just got to keep tuning your filter. Eventually you filter it out completely or it doesn’t bother you at all because you’re so immune.

Most of these complainers want the old halo 2 or 3 back from what i get. If you dont like halo 4 why don’t you just return to any of the previous installment if those are way better? But no… they need to go on the forums and whine about the smallest things. Yes the game changed allot compared to the previous installments and needs some tweaking but all in all 343 did an amazing job.

This quote made no sense whatsoever.

Don’t forget how bad forge and custom games are in Halo 4. (-2y replay value).

Listen, Halo 4 should have been like shooting fish in a barrel. It should have been the easiest game to develop and design based on the reaction to H1, H2, H3, ODST and Reach.

There is an enormous amount of info that can be learnt from those old games, what to do, what not to do, what could be improved, what works really well… and so on.

And despite this we have a game with massive amounts of missing content, bizarre new game rules, poorly designed maps and a lack of attention to detail.

I don’t see why anyone should give 343i a break. Halo 4 should have been easy, and yet it’s got some major problems.

> As someone said (I have forgotten his GT): “Well, it’s been quite quite a time since 343 doesn’t make a game. Just remember, CE was also buggy as hell.”

Shouldn’t that be Halo 2?

CE may have had glitches but 99% of them were not detrimental or game breaking.

They have to do something to save the game
