Give 343 Industries some slack!

All I see on the forums is people raging, which is because it’s the internet, but still people need to chill out. This is the first game 343 has ever done. I’ve seen people saying how this is a CoD clone. CAN YOU BLAME THEM? You would be -Yoink- if this game had no level system, only one gun, and nothing to customize. It is something that we love and hate about the gaming industry now. If 343 didn’t do what they did with this game, it would of flopped like reach did. Yes there are still some of us that miss the Halo 2 days but you can’t aim a product that had millions spent on it towards a few thousand people. It needs the widest audience possible, cause at the end of the day, it’s all business. If you are a real fan you will stick with the game and adapt to its new style. If your not a true fan, just finish the story and return the game to where you bought it.

OP, your financial points may be sound, but your proposed action is ignorant.
Do you see these forums??? We are the players, we are the people.
You say 343 needs to cater to the biggest audience?
We are the audience. We are the fans, and we speak out when we’ve been wronged.

A real fan takes the time to point out flaws and demand change, to sit there and take whatever 343 dishes out is unrealistic. This is the purpose of the H4 forum, TO COMPLAIN AND POINT OUT FLAWS.

No! They’ve made some pretty childish and illogical errors. I will not give them any slack.

That lazy 343i…the milliseconds are passing…tick, tock, tick, tock…

> No! They’ve made some pretty childish and illogical errors. I will not give them any slack.

Please explain

I think all the shortcomings would have been easier to swallow if they hadn’t, prior to release, claimed to understand what Halo fans want and assured us that we would be getting a “true” Halo experience. Getting lost when your guide hasn’t told you where you’re going isn’t as bad as getting lost when your guide assures you that you’re definitely going home.

People like you keep claiming Reach was a flop.
You must have great, accurate figures to back that up, right?

Also, this;

" If you are a real fan you will stick with the game and adapt to its new style. If your not a true fan, just finish the story and return the game to where you bought it."

-is the most tired hyperbolic bull-shhhhhh, used by every whiny sheep, in the world, ever. It doesn’t make your point any more legitimate.

I could ramble on with lots of attempted explanations and whatnot, but no one will fragging read it, or bother coming up with a coherent reply. Because this is the Internet, and Halo’s forums have never been particularly bright and sparky even in the past, when it didn’t seem like people were trying to eat each others eyeballs through the screen…

^ This too

i agree on some part with all this horrible things thats happening on halo right now. but calling 343 lazy i dont think its right. i bet if you guys are the one whose makin the game the only thing you can do is hush hush until you fixed something, its not as easy as you guys think. give them some time, i am…im being patient even tho im stuck at level 70, locking level is something that i dont agree on. since it doesnt take that long to rank up. im sure it will come along and hope 343 does fix it and listen to the fans. help them learn and prepare for halo 5, knowing what went wrong on halo 4 that they could improve.

There’s also the fact that most of what people are complaining about now was already being complained about well before Halo 4 underwent its full public reveal earlier this year. They’ve had more time than some people are suggesting.

Gladly. The pre-order bonus chaos and subpar Limited Edition made pre-release uncomfortable. Discarding nearly every single original musical theme was a very bad idea that ruined much of the continuity.

The user interface and menus are dreadful compared to past Halo games, especially Reach. Kill cams are broken, join in progress wasn’t the best idea, the DMR is slightly overpowered, some other weapons aren’t balanced correctly, Custom Games options have been vastly reduced, Forge is, if possible, worse than it was in Reach, no Theatre mode for Campaign or Spartan Ops, quick-time events in Campaign were dreadful and totally destroyed any immersion or dramatic effect, telling most of the important backstory in the Terminals and relying on other media, such as the novels, was a very poor choice, there is a very large amount of glitches and bugs, and many of the issues from the previous games were not corrected.

Many weapon and vehicle sounds have been unnecessarily changed, as have certain character models such as John’s armour and the Covenant. There are too few vehicles and certain iconic weapons from previous games didn’t return. Grenades function terribly, the playlist selection is too limited, Valhalla was possibly one of the worst maps they could have remade as it is still playable in Halo 3 and thus is still fresh in many people’s minds… oh, I could go on and on.

A real fan just knows what is an actual issue. The way that Halo has adapted to the modernization of gaming is not a issue. They just need to tweek bugs. Add a skill ranking system, and more end game stuff. The content of the game is just fine, its only the little things that have a problem.

so let me see if i understand you right.

we need to give some slack to 343 because it’s their first game ever, and we should disregard that the majority of them are bungie veterans who worked on past halo’s, and we should also ignore the fact that they took the foundation of halo, everything that made a halo game unique…and throw it into a incinerator,

It might be the first game 343 have done, but the staff that work at 343 are all experienced.

Halo 4 should have been the easiest game in the world to create, based off the established work that Bungie have already made. Shooting fish in a barrel.

Instead we have missing things, broken things, badly designed maps, a horrid UI and no contact or word from 343 about them.

I mean I have no idea how they shipped the game with so much broken in custom games and Forge. I don’t understand how they thought that bodies should have longer despawn times than weapons.

It’s frustrating because at the heart of it H4 has really nice core gameplay, let down by everything else in the game.

Agreed. At its core, Halo 4 has the potential to be the best Halo game. But it’s not, because the outer shell is totally rotten.

> The majority of them are bungie veterans who worked on past halo’s

I’m with you on everything else you said but only a few 343 employees used to work at Bungie. I think the count is currently 3 or maybe 4 people, and no critical people like Ryan, Jones, Staten or Marty.

Back on bungies forums a lot of people said ‘’ why is there no killcam in halo. Bring back the BR and all this other -Yoink-.

The changes were made and put in Halo 4 now we -Yoink- on the choice. I notice a bug with audio and aim when watching a killcam.

Guys it is still a very good game. Is it everything to everyone? No, but no sequel is. I’ve been around for a very long time and every single halo ever released with the exception of CE was flamed…hard. This is nothing new. Just accept that it doesn’t accommodate to all of your desires and focus on what it does well.

They shipped the game with all these broken things because Microsoft made them. They couldn’t postpone the launch and work on all that stuff because it HAD to launch before COD. I’m pretty sure if they were given another half year they would have fixed 99% of the broken stuff in the game.

There is no excuse though for things like the bad UI, and the devolved version of forge/custom games we got. Those seem to be concious choices that were made, and I have no idea how 343 was able to justify them.

All in all, I will give 343 SOME slack. They made a great game, I won’t blame them for all the glitches and stuff that doesn’t work (assuming that they will fix them asap), but some things are just unexplainable IMO.

The game should be adjusting to the consumer and our wants. My problem is i am a purchaser of this product and i feel i have not gotten everything promised to me and that this halo took a couple steps back in certain areas that needs to be fixed. Now im not raging on the forums or anything but it doesnt mean i’m happy waiting as they fix the issues and problems in this game.
