Think about it its 343 first game ever
Sure they have a lot of people who have worked on games but for the most part this is their first. With how good it turned out its great. We left halo in the most capable hands. Did it take some stuff from other games, yes, but can we really say halo could live with out them. Halo was made in an age where exp, and unlockables, and other things wernt needed.
that era started to end in 2004, when ghost recon 2 implemented such things. Now every shooter has them and the old formula is stale, to evolve sadly we must learn from them. WHile many of you hate 343 for what they have done, I thank them for giving halo a fighting chance.
that’s just how im thinking, I know many of you think differently and I will gladly hear it, but as I said, this is just my opinion.
I’m all for giving them a chance. But why (knowing it’s their first game) have they completely shafted the “grain” of the halo franchise, and added ridiculous unnecessary changes. It literally feels like the designers have ADHD and don’t have a -Yoinking!- clue what Halo is about.
Even Stevens to begin with. No loadouts, No upgrades/addons whatever. Just pure skill to gain, control and keep advantages in games. Be this through weapon spawns, teamwork, support…
All this coinflippyness just breaks the recipe Bungie spent so long perfecting. There’s a reason Reach was dropped off the pro scene. There’s a reason Halo 1-3 literally MADE competitive gaming for consoles. Halo 4 is not quite there yet.
Halo originally was a campaign shooter and the innovativeness of that game is what made it great. The multi-player stuff didn’t in till later and it was meant to be something a player could spend their time doing while they waited for the next campaign to come out. All this crying about the way the multi-player systems are getting shafted really is starting to get on my nerves considering Halo is about solo and co-op campaigns, which are pretty watered down from the originals, it’s not about feeding the needs of a handful of mountain dew cranked jet pack ninja’s that want to spend all day screaming “I OWNED YOU!” into a headset to stroke their own lacking ego’s.
Yeah there is room for improvement in what they did in the campaign, yeah I like what I see them using as the base for things in the Infinity missions, but if the only thing your going to post about is how you got yoinked in the war games stuff then cry silently, please.

are you talking to me or the guy above you?
Sorry I was talking to the other guy, not you. I agree with you for the most part thats its really their first stab at picking up the Chief’s story and they made a pretty good go at with what they had to work with, but there are a few spots where it has the feel that they ran out of idea’s on what to do campaign and Infinity wise like the creative juices sort of dried up at the end of the staff meeting and they were grasping for input.
Just by nature my teeth snap into place anytime I see someone crying or complaining about anything when they don’t include a suggestion for correction in the same sentence.
You clearly underestimate the strength in numbers that follow competitive gaming. The thousand dollar tournaments, the hundreds of thousand people playing online. The campaign is great. The multiplayer is god awful. If you honestly believe Halo 2 was a primarily “campaign” game, you’re a -Yoinking!- imbecile.
And just to clarify, I was NOT “crying” about the campaign. I was simply saying the multiplayer is far far weaker than the recipe Bungie cooked up.
It’s quite clear I’m talking about the multiplayer, NOT the campaign. Learn to understand posts before you start talking -Yoink-.
I know Halo 4 would get all this hate. The thing that disappoints me most is the helmets in the game and the unnecessary changes(Different look for Elites, Jackals and Grunts and different sounds for the weapons) and the ordinance drops.
Halo 3 was getting stale. Halo 4 got rid of some of the staleness and so did Reach.
I will give them a chance, but for me there is no reason for killcams, supply drops, friendly fire to be off in slayer and a litany of other things that have made this game feel less than Halo. In my opinion Halo always felt original, but now with all these stupid changes it feels kind of generic. There are many who will not give them a chance and if 343 is not careful they will lose the core Halo fans who will feel driven away because they feel the game has gone the way of COD…
Lol.
Before release: You can’t judge the game before playing it!
After release: Give them a chance!
Grow up and accept the fact that players have every right to complain.

I agree, this game has been CODified a bit too much.
Hey I gave them a chance, and I am pleased so far with this game. I have enjoyed every Halo game since they were released, and number 4 has me more engrossed in the Characters (MC and Cortana) than I have ever been.
And the multiplayer is so much fun for 1 simple reason: CoD fanboys invaded it without understanding how to effectively play the Halo mp. I have been cleaning up on mp maps because CoD kids have no idea what they are doing. As for the Halo veterans, they are split into two groups:
Group 1: Actually good Halo players that make me work.
Group 2: Kids that think the AR + Pummel = Instadeath is the greatest thing ever.
Group 1 gives me the excitement that the mp should; Group 2 makes me laugh as I give them 4 bursts of my BR and watch them drop.
And the CoD kids: they make me scratch my head trying to figure out what the hell they were trying to accomplish as they drop without any effort on my part.
There’s no good excuse for the lack of Custom Game options.
> There’s no good excuse for the lack of Custom Game options.
If that is true. I am very sad.
> There’s no good excuse for the lack of Custom Game options.
The entire game is lacking a lot of past options.
Come on guys, if you don’t want to have AA’s and stuff just go into the Slayer Pro playlist. Ordnance is still there, but yeah I personally don’t care about that. The only thing I really don’t like about Slayer Pro is the AR loadout. Seriously it’s called PRO for a reason, and an Assault Rifle doesn’t fit there imo.
All I can say is that I freakin love this game in general, and I’m sure there will be a couple of fixes in the future which are going to make the game more awesome.
It’s the first week of release - We all knew the forums would be full of complaints.
In another couple of weeks the complaint storm will pass
One of the things that Halo has always had in its favour has been the fact that there have never really been any other games like it. I’ve no doubt this is one of the things that kept H3 going strong for as long as it did. Many people played Halo to get AWAY from things that are over-used in other games, things like perks, loadouts, killstreaks, etc.
How is introducing all these things to Halo giving Halo a fighting chance? The introduction of all these stale and over-used gameplay elements is sacrificing one of the main things that kept people playing Halo, its uniqueness, and making Halo seem like less of an alternative to other shooter games and more like just another generic shooter game. The introduction of these elements is just ensuring Halo slides further into irrelevancy.
Halo should be trying to offer an experience people can’t get anywhere else; not an experience people already get elsewhere.

This.
No one should need to have to make excuses for game developers, and if people stopped trying to, game developers might actually do a better job.

I like the SR magnum and Dexterity combo
SR eats the shields, the dexterity quick’s by weapon switch, magnum hits the head shot. This actually is pretty good.
