Ghosts

I am sure this has been asked/answered before…however, one more time, how can I stop getting myself boarded when on Ghosts during Warzone battles? It happens too much for my liking and I am sure it is something I am doing wrong.

Thank you ahead of time for any responses that help.

The answers are likely going to be pretty simple and perhaps obvious, but I’ll offer up some tips!

  • Keep your distance- splattering in H5 is a coin flip and should probably be used only on unsuspecting spartans. Any spartan that can time a jump/thrust away from your ghost can board you. - Try not to run into anything in the map that could slow you- rocks, geometry, platforms, etc. Speed = safety - Make wide turns- instead of stopping, and trying to do a 180 on a dime, go around something in a wide arc. This will allow you to maintain top speed, and use more driving lanes so enemy spartans can’t so easily predict where you’ll be. - Plasma pistols should put the fear of God into you. They basically don’t miss in H5, and can wreck your day.I’m sure others may have better advice than me, I’m not a great ghost operator. Me getting into a ghost typically turns my spartan INTO a ghost.

Edit- This advice is worth mentioning, and putting up here in my comment:

That about sums it up… Use common sense and don’t go into enemy bases, that’s a sure loss of a ghost.

I’m not sure “coin flip” is appropriate due to HOW fraking random splatters seem. I’ve plowed through groups of enemy spartans at full tilt without getting a kill, other times (when I’m on foot) feels like I can get splattered at 3 mph.

All the above and I make sure to go to the home base most of the time to call in a vehicle because you are way more unlikely to get boarded than at the garages/Fortresses.

I’m pretty sure I used the phrase accurately. It refers to a situation that is determined randomly- typically with two possible outcomes. In this event I was referring to splattering and:

  • getting the kill, or - not getting the killTo me (and it seems, to you) splattering appears to be somewhat random, so I described it as a coin flip situation.

I don’t play a lot of Warzone, but in BTB the premise is pretty much the same I would think. I go for the Ghost in every BTB match. I don’t see them as a tool for racking up a lot of kills, but more about a good distraction.

Don’t worry so much about splattering. That usually gets you into trouble. Be more aware of your surroundings, and just keep moving.

Try to come from behind and don’t get too close unless you are trying to splatter an unsuspecting victim.

Personally I just say don’t splatter unless it’s a sure kill. Keep your distance and use your guns to skill Spartans only boost when you need to get somewhere or are going for a quick escape.

Great advice but I wouldn’t say its a “sure loss”. Sometimes you can get super lucky and pull off some crazy stuff

The only one’s I’ll go into is the center bases, spire, garage bottom floor, etc… You have the space to keep moving and can get out fast. I should have been a little more descriptive. Unless you have teammates going into the small bases with you it’s bye, bye ghost.

You can always try to rejack the ghost or just start spamming grenades in an attempt to block him/her to kingdom come!

Adding onto what the others have said…GET TO HIGH GROUND. Not only can you detect the Ghosts (or any other vehicles approaching), but you can make it much harder for them to splatter you, let alone reach you.

The best advise I have seen from a moniter lol. But who ever wrte this is correct. Splattering with a gost is very likey ur going to miss use ultas and keep back use the increaed damage to get the kill not the speed

Stay out of close quarters and keep your distance when fighting opponents. If you get plasma pistoled, get off the Ghost right away and then jump back on. That usually works for newbie opponents, but it’s better to just fight the tougher ones on foot if that happens.

Haha I play from Australia with all brutal ping and half the time I get knocked back or launched really high into the air trying to splatter and the enemy just shrugs it off and keeps going

Keep your distance when going up against another Spartan, pay attention to your surroundings and your radar. It’s real easy to dodge a splatter so attempt from the side or from behind when the enemy is not aware.

Thank you all for your answers. I am going to be checking these tactics out tonight in Warzone!

Getting taken over very little now. Thank you for the helps ladies and gents. Learned running over Spartans with the boost is nice way to kill those standing in the way.

Just shoot instead of getting close. It’s better needing to take a few extra shots than getting your ride stolen. You can even try to lure them into attempting a hijack, just slowly drift closeish to them and they will come for you. Then you simply back up and shoot as they run straight at you. Splatters are best against enemies running across your screen. If they’re running away from you, you might not hit them hard enough for a splatter. If they see you and you attempt a head on, it can be bad for you. Basically you can walk backwards and thrust backwards right as a ghost hits you, and you will be one shot. But you will end up being pushed along by the ghost, allowing you to hijack it. You’ll probably die but at least you inconvenience them with the damage and time spent. if you’re a ghost driver and get hijacked, immediately stop the ghost. After being kicked off, hit your boost button while holding walk backwards. You should have a great look at the hijacker’s head and body. If you have severely hurt them, it only takes one burst no matter what u hit. Good luck
