I love the Halo Universe. I’ve played all the games, done research into the lore, but I’ve only had the privilege to read a few of the books. The first that I read was Fall of Reach, followed by Ghosts of Onyx. While I’m saving to purchase more of the books (and hopefully get and read all of them), I was curious as to what happened after Halsey, Mendez, Fred, Linda, and Kelly got locked in the shield world.
It has been a while since I’ve ready Ghosts of Onyx, so I apologize if my information is incorrect. But put simply…how did they get out? What happened to Mendez? What is the time line in relation to Halo 5?
I want this thread to be an open discussion thread as well, so if you have any other cool or relatively unknown pieces of lore, feel free to share!
They find a way to sent a message outside. They end up expanding the Dyson where. A research station is built there. The Dyson sphere is named Trevaylean (probably spelled that wrong) after one the S2s that died, I believe it was Kirk, but its been a while.
The scientists bring a sangheili name Jul MDama there to do experiments on him without his knowledge. He finds out about the Didact and requiem there from forerunner hieroglyphs. He uses a forerunner portal to escape and then goes to Requiem and tricks the Master Chief in to waking the Didact and everything in Halo 4 happens.
There’s more things that happen, but these are the things most vital to the main story arc.

And then there is the upcoming legacy of onyx next year, that we can guess deals even more with that.
I hadn’t heard of Legacy of Onyx. I’m looking forward to it. Trevalyen Station is literally the biggest Forerunner creation we’ve ever seen. There could be a bajillion super interesting Forerunner things there – including living Forerunners! It’s so big that it’s not impossible that ONI could spend three or four years there and miss that. To elaborate: damn thing is 300,000,000 km in diameter. That’s 2 AU. That’s more or less the distance from Earth to our sun and back (which is the point). There is an actual star in it, and it is way bigger than the star that is in it. The possibilities for stories about explorers inside that station are basically limitless.

Literally nothing is known besides the name, the fact that is written by Matt Forbeck and that it is 384 pages long.
Oh man, thanks everyone! A lot of things make a lot more sense now, and I’ll be keeping my out for Legacy of Onyx as well. If anyone has any other fun tidbits of lore, please feel free to share, I’d love to see some of the more obscure things too!
i did not know about that new book coming out I will have to look that up sounds good but given the title and the hope it is not about the forerunners it may be a little more about the 3s training or more on the oni base that was there zone 67 I think the fenced off place. but matt did great work with new blood so it will be an awesome read.
