I do not know if any other player has come across this “ghost” before but it seems the “Ghosts of Meridan” update was taken quite literally.
The “ghost” that appeared had no outline in Theatre Mode unlike every player on the map, it had no walking/running animation but eerily glided around the map (It did have climbing animation though). It showed hostility towards the Red Team and was killable (though no gamertag appeared on the left side of the screen). After going through and looking at the film clip multiple times, all of Blue Team were accounted for at the time of the “ghosts” spawn and the “ghost” spawned at Blue Base.
Below is a link to a quick video I made of the “ghost”.
Halo 5: Guardians - Ghost of Meridan
Wow that is freaky. I dont know if it is a glitch or not but if it is intentional then I am confused why more people haven’t noticed this. I personally have never seen the ghost of meridian. I watched your video and believe in it now lol XD plz dont kill me ghost!
Whoa , creepy!
Can’t tell if it’s literally a ghost or just someone lagging waaay too much.

All of the players on Blue Team were accounted for. Even those that had died upon the ghosts spawning had completely different armour to what the ghost had on.
im not sure if this thread is serious or not, but this is just a bug that happens. it has happened before ghosts of meridian. has something to do with joining in progress.
The Ghost of Lockout returns!

I am very much aware that there have been numerous cases in the past but no players joined the game or left the game for that matter any where near the time the ghost spawned and both teams were full.
Ok this is creepy and strange. I thought this was you lagging or something. This happens to me when the player isn’t having the movement, but has the blue outline. Then in the clip there was no Gamertag, which let me to think that you pressed “X” to, but no you didn’t. No gamertag or anything, no movement. This needs further investigation. And I mean it
Seen this a million times because I’m always using theatre mode.
The dang thing just plain stopped showing JIP players properly in the recording. Even I was sliding around everywhere in some of my recordings and it was clear that it only occurred in the matches I joined late.

My thought exactly haha.
Yeah a hit has to do with join in progress I believe because I get the same weirdness watching theater of my join in progress.

That’s the thing though, my friend and I were in the match since the beginning and I even asked him if he could go into theatre mode just to confirm that it wasn’t just me and he saw the exact same thing. Joining in Progress had nothing to do with it this time.
Just a bug from theater mode.
PS: I’m a vegan.

Yep.
Yeah, theatre is chalk full of bugs… I was watching a swat match and it looked like one of the other players was shooting off about 15 feet away from people while making headshots, then he randomly teleported across the map, but when I watched from another players view and free camera, he was working normally
Thought at first that this was a RvB reference (i.e. Church’s ghost, hostile to Red team, etc), but now I am just confused.

Omg that could be it…
Ghosts are a normal thing in Halo, they usally appear when you have some lag in the game so it’s mainly a glitch. Ghost dated all the way back to Halo 2, some of those ghost names were Ghost of Lockout and Ghost of Midship. Then they came back in Halo 3 named Ghost of Foundry and Ghost of Blackout. Even Halo Reach had one named Ghost of Forge World. I don’t know if there was any in Halo 4. They are mainly hostile as well and their main weapon is the plasma grenade. Which was weird because the ghost in the video didn’t throw one.
