getting the game early

My college roommate is currently sitting next to me an playing Halo:CEA. He received it today at 4:30 PM. I am upset at this because Wal-Mart -Yoinked!- up. He ordered one day shipping from them yet got it a day early. I ordered release day shipping from Amazon and will be lucky if I have it release day. How does this happen. In fact, according to him, the game shipped from Wal-Mart on Friday Nov. 11th. Yet the game isn’t out until the 15th. How does this happen?

I’m just pissed because I ordered it in July and he waits till late August and still gets it early.
