A lot of criticism goes to farmers, but why not this? If I can get a kill even when it shouldn’t count, that means the enemy could take it or somebody who deserves the kill won’t.
I do a lot of damage to Eternal with a banshee. When I died at the last second and they kill him, it doesn’t count. What the hell.
Yeah I’m not sure how this one works. I’ve done minimal damage and gotten the kill and then done most of the damage and not gotten the kill. Seems messed up or glitched
It’s whoever shot him last. You just gotta start timing your shots to make sure you get that last hit
You earn credit for a boss kill by doing at least 10% of the damage. (Granted your team scores the killing blow)
Yeah, the boss crediting system is weird… not only the last shot gives that team the kill but if you do like 2% of damage while it’s low and you manage to get the final shot, congrats! You got a medal for shooting a boss 4 or 5 times.

I’m certain I have shot bosses one or two times and then die and I still somehow get the kill.
You need to do 1% in a life to get the medal. Sometimes I get it even if I die, but not if I respawn
On the Phantom bosses even shooting the boss I don’t get the takedown
It gives it to everyone who participates, that’s how its supposed to work so everyone gets credit.

Yeah it can be annoying when you’ve been shooting a boss with a banshee or ghost ultra for 2 minutes and done 95% of the damage, then you die and don’t get any credit at all for the kill. Happened to me a few times.
But then it can also go the other way - you run across the map and fire a single shot at a boss and get the kill. Go figure.
The other day I was shooting a boss, got killed, and then the other team was shooting it. A few seconds later it said I got the boss kill. It was weird since I didn’t see any teammates shooting it after I died.
Has anyone got the kill for a boss but the other team got the points and won the game.

It’s now only like 5% damage contribution to get credit for being part of the takedown. They announced the change during the Hog Wild update I believe.
