Getting real tired of hearing about HCS

Seriously? Another community update focused on the HCS that nobody really cares about anymore? Man this is so lame, esports have had way too much say in Halo 5 and now it’s starting to tick me off. I want some ACTUAL HALO 5 NEWS, not news on a bunch of players/edits I care little to nothing about.

Edit: I mean I don’t mind HCS news as long as we get some kind of information on Halo 5’s gameplay alongside it, like the numerous bugs/glitches that have been in since day 1 and have yet to be patched, or even something telling us if there even will be a next update.

It’s not the community update, it’s filed under HCS news…

I care about HCS… It’s pretty fun watching the events IMO.

It really only gets so much saturation because theres not much other news for them to go over.

It also excites a lot of people, think about it like a sports game like football (soccer or American football, take your pick there both really big respectively lol)

I dont have any intrest honestly, but I’ve gotten this far not really getting into it so it’s whatever.

I think the OP is completely mistaken. I don’t think their esports coverage is getting in the way of content drops.

The actual Halo 5 news is starting to get more spread out b/c there isn’t that much going on with it right now. Between HCS and HW2, there are just other things happening. Once there is another update for the game (whether it is a big content release or just fixes), then we’ll get some news. I don’t know what else they would say right now.

Well, technically it is… it’s money they’re putting towards HCS related affairs that could’ve been pooled into the production of new content… but this community has repeatedly shown a lack of understanding on this concept.

I support HCS, and I support quality, competitive games. If 343 wants to satisfy all communities as well as fans that demand a higher standard out of their work, they need to better utilize the budget they’re given, design even smarter, and stop producing higher cost/lower value fluff…

Instead, produce appealing low cost/high value content, promote it… give the community something cheap that they’re going to want to spent $5-10 on a a time, weapon skins, armor skins, etc. Condense the over-abundance of armor, but give players more options to customize what is actually available. There’s plenty of potential… endless potential… for armor skins, where players can give their character a different look.

That saves (and makes) them a lot of additional money to spend on the REAL content that is going to add REAL value to the game… DLC maps… BETTER, more original DLC maps. Ones that can maybe actually be added to the HCS rotation post launch!

Maps where the competitive players, who better understand the design logic and consequences of how map geometry is arranged and affects the gameplay, will say “Hmm, this map really provides some new and interesting, open sightlines, excels at promoting team-shooting… Strikes a balance in including SOME close-quarters areas, but doesn’t make nearly the entire map that way (Tyrant). Maps that don’t pigeonhole a player into one route, or promote a gross amount of campy gameplay…”

It’s all a very fine balance… it’s business and lean engineering. 343 is close, but they really need to be smart about how they utilize their resources going forward, and maximize the perceived value of their content for the player, while improving the map offerings even more.

The HCS team at 343 that test team arena and other ranked modes I assume , is not the same team that finds, and fixes bugs and glitches, you know that right?

E-sports was one of the main focuses of Halo 5’s multiplayer so I don’t think HCS is going away.

I see what you mean. There is a separate news category specifically for HCS related stuff, so why isn’t it kept in that category? I don’t mind a short little blurb in the Community Update, but an entire section seems a bit much.

It is. Go back and look again. It clearly is in the HCS category post by “Official HCS”. It is not in a community update. So I really don’t know what the fuss is all about. You don’t want to hear about it then don’t read it.

Oh and if you’re talking about the most current Community update that was posted 15 hours ago, whereas the OP was 18 hours ago. So this guy is bringing up an issue that doesn’t really exist. Yes, there is a mention in this Community update, but so is HW2 stuff, and many other things.

Feel the same way, at the very least they should give us an option to disable the pop up unless actual ‘new’ news actually turns up since it pops up on H5, HW2 too often. It’s bad enough that the game has micro-transactions but they use it to spam the HCS packs as soon as there available, I have literally no interest in wasting money on them. It’s the same problem with Gears 4, Microsoft just isn’t listening.

Of course they’re not listening, they think this is what players want because of their “test groups” but in reality what we got is the exact opposite of what players want.

Sadly true but not much we can do to get Microsoft to stop forcing this on us.

We could just group together and tell them to stop having their heads up their own -Yoinks!-.

Couldn’t care less about hcs… the newsfeed about it doesn’t bother me though, I just skip over it.

“Esporta has had way too much say in halo 5” lmao.I’d say 95% of the comp(players and observers) community hates this game so no we didn’t really get a say.

Stop listening or find a new place for halo news. There really isn’t much to be said about halo 5, nothing new has really happened.
