So numerous times, I get killed or I get a kill through walls, almost always with snipers, which is really strange. An enemy or I could duck or thrust into cover, yet get killed.
Another thing is that I could get a kill or the enemy could kill me, but it would take a second to happen, letting the enemy or me have the opportunity to get a kill too. I could also snipe a whole meter away from an enemy and still get the kill.
This makes no sense and is really infuriating. Does anybody else experience this or is this a connection thing?
Yep! Bullets going through walls, around corners, and my favorite following you down sloping gradients. Not your connection just bad bullet magnetism coding.
Second favorite, shot cancelled behavior. Not to forget, some people’s grenades are like nukes, mine always seems like I am throwing marshmallows.

Oh good gods, yeah! I’ve noticed it seems a lot worse in the last couple of weeks.
To answer your question, yes and yes. Everyone experiences it and yes it is a connection thing. It all depends on latency and your connection to the server vs. everyone else’s connection. On your screen, you may have gotten behind cover, but on the screen of your killer (presuming their connection is even slightly better than yours), you hadn’t yet reached cover and they killed you before you got there. Then, your game displays what appears to be bullets traveling through walls when that didn’t really happen in the server’s mind.
You know those incidents when a player disrespects your corpse by t-bagging it, shooting, or smacking it, in your perspective it looks like they are gesturing at the floor, to nothing, yet your lifeless (once aggressive and free) body is still taking affect.
I think the similar applies for supposedly behind the wall shots; from your perspective it looked that like you got behind cover, but to the over person you were exposed just enough to get the kill…

That’s certainly possibly, if an arm or a leg was exposed it would be easy pickings for a sniper if the player had already taken damage. I’m plagued by these “through the wall deaths” constantly, I never seem to get a kill through a wall, but just when I think I’ve made it to sufficient cover, a sniper shot takes me out from the other side of the wall. Maybe the bullets blow holes through it or something,LOL

The magnetism on a couple weapons is pretty bad in halo 5.The pistol is mostly good, and i honestly can’t remember with the carbine. The battle rifle and dmr though…The dmr has copious amounts but the worst offender easily is the br.I have yet to use another gun in any fps with that much overall aim assist.I feel like I have freaking missile launcher when I use that thing.
So is this a thing with other shooters? Because other shooters I play, including the previous Halo games, doesn’t seem to have a problem as bad as this, at least that’s what I remember. Like the newest Battlefront, although laggy too many times, doesn’t seem to have this problem.
There is a really weird animation when this happens. This implies Client-Side-Protection (CSP). Basically this makes sure that what the shooter is seeing happens, that’s what you seem to be experiencing. This is no your connection, it is in fact the shooter’s

It does happen but it is only really common in CoD and the old Star Wars Battlefront…
i like the classic u see snipers scope light u thrust away ur behind cover ur still dead >.> its happened to me alot and my nades are normally on point my tip for using nades in a gunfight is to thrust as soon as u hit the nade button u will thrust to the side the nade will still hit its mark ive been called a hacker multiple times using that lol my issue with the nade seems to be when i throw the nade against the wall it doesnt have the kill range it should have i have issues getting the kill when one spartan is against the wall and there near others its times ive felt like i shouldve gotten a cluster lock yet dont even get a kill
Yeah, I’ve had some greatly increased lag/hit delay/hit variability the last month or so. It’s most noticeable with the sniper. Some games the hits are as intended, others missed shots hit and hits don’t register. The increase in these issues correlated with the major Xbox update about a month ago, but that could just be coincidence.
I think it has everything to do with who you’re playing against. I’m from western canada. When I play against Americans, especially western I have incredibly crisp connections.
Usually when im getting killed behind cover or have weird/delayed registration it’s when I matched a group from Mexico. I just hope they’re experiencing the same problems so it’s fair at least which I imaging is the case.
There are 2 problems with consistency that I have had since launch. 1 is ghost melees. I don’t understand why these don’t register sometimes or the lung on the melee is very inconsistent. 2 is the scattershot. Sometimes I can almost snipe someone 30 feet away with that thing. Then up close enemies just eat a shot to the chest look at you and say " please sir may I have another".
One time I was running down a hallway and boosted through an intersection in mythic shottysnipers and I died and when I turned my camera I see an enemy player with a nornfang rounding the corner where I died. WTH
