Getting kicked from matcmaking lobby.

I’m getting kicked from the matchmaking lobby. I can join a lobby and vote for a map, but as soon as the countdown finishes, I get kicked from the match and the search restarts. This is happening on two different Xbox’s at two different locations using the same account.

I searched the forums and found a lot of people had a similar issue last year, and one thread had an admin that informed people that the problem was looked into and addressed, and that the problem was server related and not client related.

Can somebody help me out here? Kind of sucks paying for a Gold membership and not being able to play. Thanks.

Bump.

Anybody? Am I the only one experiencing this? Seems odd if it was affecting many people the last time it was reported…

Could be a problem with the game loading maps. I would suggest that you delete the War Games and Spartan Ops Season 1 content from the Xbox, then install them again using disc 2. Make sure that both discs are in good condition, and if possible, use a different copy.

Nope, that didn’t do anything. Another thing I noticed is that the microphone icon often shows that people are talking in the lobby, but I can never hear anybody.

Thanks for the suggestion though. Keep em coming guys!

Could you try deleting the War Games and Spartan Ops data and then load up Disc 1 without installing the Disc 2 content?

Halo 4 should prompt you to download it all digitally so the files won’t be corrupted.

Nope, no luck with that either.

If it’s not a content issue, then it may be a network issue on your end. Perhaps your Xbox was able to make the initial connection to other players in the pre-game lobby, but isn’t able to make the subsequent connections. This may not necessarily be a Moderate/Strict NAT problem, but you can try the same steps to resolve this issue.

For example:
[/li]- Power cycle your router/modem

  • Reset it to factory defaults (at your own risk)
  • Configure port forwarding or DMZ

This problem only seems to be happening on Service Electric, Century Link is fine. I’m using a Arris CM820A router but I’m not familiar with port forwarding. I’ll try the power of Google I guess.

Hi undrcoverwookie,

Are you still experiencing this issue?

Yes. Now using a Motorola SGB6580 router/modem. UPnP is enabled.

I’m trying port forwarding. Don’t think I’m doing it right. Here is a SS of where I’m at. Any ideas?

Port Forwarding SS

Thanks.

Bump. There’s got to be a port forwarding expert in here somewhere?

Hello undrcoverwookie.

Is this forum post helpful to you at all: Port-forward and Open NAT? Let me know if this works for you.

Ok, so I followed the steps in that thread. I only opened the first ten ports, since that seems to be the max allowed by my router. See this new SS for how I went about it.

New SS

I did try using the 198.168.0.55 that was suggested by Super Reclaimer, but when I would enter that IP in the manual Xbox settings, it would disconnect me and tell me the DNS server can’t resolve Xbox Live server names.

So I used the automatic settings and IP from the Xbox settings as the IP for the port forwarding (198.168.0.3).

Still nothing. Disconnects me at the same point, right after the countdown starts.
I also still cannot hear other players chatting in the lobby. I figure I’m still doing something wrong and the ports aren’t open.

From what you have shared, the ports should be open. You can verify this by opening Halo 4, pressing Start to bring up the Customization menu, scrolling down to the Settings menu, and scrolling right to the Network menu. If your NAT says Open, then you have already port-forwarded correctly, and you’re issue is with something else.

Another question: Does this occur with any game other than Halo 4? This may help me determine if it’s an Xbox Live issue, rather than a Halo issue.

Cizlin,

My NAT is listed as open in the Halo 4 menu. This does not happen with any other Halo’s or any games for that matter.

I’m thinking it might be an issue with the internet provider, but I wouldn’t have the slightest clue what. As I said earlier, this happens on two different consoles,in two different locations, with two different disks, both on Service Electric. Centurylink, Verizon, Dish, all work fine.

Thanks for the quick reply.

You say this happens on two different consoles with the same ISP. Have you considered the fact that it may be your profile that is glitching? You can figure out if it is if you use a brand new account on the same console(s) which is on a Gold trial (comes with Halo 4). If it works for that profile, then yours might be corrupted. If it doesn’t, then I would assume it is the ISP at fault.
