Yes I changed my gt and I know that this is the reason why my stats are gone.
But what I’m thinking about is… if I’m going to change my gt to my old name, will the stats show up again or are they really lost forever?
You can still view you Halo 2 stats on your halo.bungie.net service record. Just look up your old gamertag in the search.

I believe for Halo 3, once you change you GT you have to play a game on live to bring back you stats and properly link up, but since Halo 2’s servers were taken down a long time ago you won’t be able to play a game and resync your stats back. Changing you GT back to your old handle probably won’t bring back you stats.
