For a while now I have been dealing with this game kicking me out from online matches. I play social BTB for the most part on Xbox One X. I have no issue starting up a match and playing through it… that is until a switch is flipped and the game decides to kick me for no reason. There is no noticeable pattern. It happens solo or with friends. They are left in game while I get placed in the menu screen. They confirmed multiple times nobody else gets kicked and no noticeable lag spikes. It’s just me. It will throw me in blue or black screen while this happens depending on the game. Sometimes it fails and I continue playing but will try again later in the same match to disconnect me. This is happening in just about every match. Probably +90% of matches. If I do get kicked sometimes I get stuck in loading screen with Halo ring so I have to relaunch game.
NO ISSUE WITH THIS WHILE PLAYING COOP CAMPAIGN ONLINE.
At the same time I have absolutely no issues playing other games. My internet provider is Comcast which is decent enough. I can download 30GB updates in about 10-15 minutes. Sometimes less. So the obvious question… what is happening? So far I’ve done the obvious like restart the game, reinstall everything, reset internet, etc. Nothing works. I have looked everywhere and can’t seem to find a thread with a similar issue except for maybe PC. I suspect it could be a router issue but I don’t want to do this dance until I exhaust all other options. Manipulating the settings could mess with how other games run at the moment.

Same Issue, this has happened to me on 4 separate lengths of time, most recently being this week, middle November to middle December last year, most of August last year and then December 2019. I have never been able to find a clear source or solution to what is happening as I can play other games and can manage campaign just fine like you have said. When this happens I usually just wait until a new patch or update comes out for Xbox and try to play a few games and if this occurs I just hop off for the day and try again later if I feel like it.
- One thing I will note from my experience is that the previous times this happened to me, I could tell that I was out of sync with everyone else in the lobby, for example the timer stopped counting down, players were walking into walls, and I could not damage players; and then eventually I would be put into a host migration screen and either appear back in the lobby with 40 seconds having been elapsed or I get stuck being removed from the match. This week has been different where I have no indication that I’m lagging out or out of sync, it gives me a host migration screen and then I’m kicked out within 10 seconds and then stuck going back to the main menu with the Halo Ring Background present.
Thanks for the reply GhostSniper774. I’m honestly not surprised you have been dealing with this for so long. My problem also goes back over a year or two. Fortunately for you it appears to come and go. My issue is constant and has basically made the game unplayable. Your comment on getting desynced from everybody else is interesting. I believe the same happens to me but is almost instant and hard to catch before I get placed into host migration screen myself. After, I either come back like 30 seconds later or get officially kicked. It’s sad to see the current state of this game. Looking at other threads, I see many other users complaining of online issues. The problem might present itself differently than what I experience but I’m sure the root cause is almost the same.

I tried playing today and yesterday, (totaling three games) and I had one instance of no signs of me lagging and being booted, one instance of clear desync then being booted and then stuck on the Halo Background, and then one where I did manage to be put back into the game with no sign of desync.
Season 6 update causes me to get booted to the title menu before the match even gets to the loading screen.
This has been an issue for me for the entire past year. MCC is completely unplayable on both Xbox One AND PC. I get kicked/disconnected from about 90% of my games. It’s absolutely infuriating. and then every time it happens i get a temporary ban even though I DIDN’T QUIT.
and it’s absolutely not my internet. I have a nighthawk XR300 router, and good + consistent internet speeds. I can play 1000 games of Halo 5 in a row without getting dropped once, or 1000 hours of literally any other game, but MCC just -Yoink- the bed every single time.
they need to fix this, its unplayable in the most literal sense
A friend of mine is also having this issue as for the last few months and getting worse everyday. We tried openeing ports as well as other options and he is still getting dropped every other game, and the fact that there is a ban for social matchmaking is -Yoinking!- stupid. 343i needs to fix thier -Yoink- seriously.
If anyone finds a solution let me know this is very frustrating for both of us.
I have the same issue and then I get banned for 20 minutes. Does 3 want me to play their game?
