Getting decimated? - Try this instead of quitting!

I’m sick of hearing the same arguments over and over from people who get banned -

“I payed $50 for this game, I should be able to quit If I want”.

On single player, yes, but remember when you quit multiplayer games, it doesn’t just effect you! Especially on Arena game types where games become unbalanced and boring.

“I was no longer enjoying those matches, so I quit, and I have the right to do so”.

Oh ok, so because YOU specifically were no longer having fun, that means it’s ok to quit the game and spoil it for the rest of us?

Here are some tips you can use to help you improve your and everyone elses experience on online.

Tips -

  1. In team slayer, if you are getting destroyed when running out looking for fights, when you spawn just look for your team mates, and stick close to them. You’ll be picking off enemy players in 2’s and 3’s and you’ll likely aid your team mates, despite not being able to go out and own in 1v1’s. To be quite honest, lesser players who work together and stick together, will often beat a team of superior players, unless they are miles ahead in terms of skill. But it’s amazing how often you can throw off good players by simply sticking together and controlling an area.

  2. If you are against players far better than you in a CTF game, play the defensive role. If you can’t go out and compete for the flag, just camp next to your flag and defend it. It may sound nooby, but at least you’re doing something. There’s a good chance you can slow the opposition down. You could also plant some shots from long range on enemies to distract them while your team mates go for the flag.

  3. In any Arena game, listen to your surroundings. Instead of just sprinting out into the open looking for a fight, wait until a fight starts, sprint towards it, and you’ll often be able to pick off one of them on low shield, perhaps both!

  4. Plug your microphone in! Communication with team mates can be the difference between a really bad game and a really good game. Even if your team mates aren’t talking, they can hear you and will take notice.

  5. Find out where the power weapons are, and if you can’t use them to your advantage, jump off the map with them. It’s amazing how often this can have a positive effect on the game. It sounds annoying and nooby, but it’s a way to control the way the game goes!

All great suggestions, good post.
I probably would have just said, “don’t be a poor -Yoinking!- sport and finish the match you -Yoink-.”

Good tips for newer players. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out as we plan but there is nothing more annoying than being up in a game, and having a team mate leave or DC causes you to lose because you can’t get map control being a man down. Just please don’t quit ranked games. Social I don’t care but please don’t punish me for having to put up with being a man down in ranked.

I dont quit many games so this is fairly obvious to me. But I DARE you to try and justify the ABSOLUTE TRASH spawns, poor level design and garbage teammates. If someone on your team goes 3 and 10 in slayer, the match is basically over already. The level designs, unbalanced power weapons and pathetic spawns are what cause people to leave more than anything. I’d quit Warzone matches we are winning, if I keep spawning in front of a Wraith. Just because its completely pisspoor design. People arent quitting because they are bad, they are quitting because the game is. BTB is a prime example of this.

lmao, spawning in front of a tank. looks like you need to pay better attention to where your spawn location is… Home base ftw when the other are being camped.

Spawns are dreadful in some games, but in most 4v4 arena types, they are usually fine.

If the games spawns are that terrible, then just stop playing the game or just stoping taking the game seriously.

Don’t call the game garbage and keep on playing it just to quit most of your games.

Agree with the above - in Warzone if one of your Amories is being swarmed, then spawn at home base. Simples.

Awesome post! Stronger in numbers!

I can handle playing on the maps but when you spawn me right beside 2 enemies or having a enemy team spawn behind you or getting spawned in the open in BTB is what grinds my gears…3 months since release and no update to this …

Nah i quit because im sick of the same maps over and over with terrible lag. shoot me.

Other than getting a disco and having to restart the game to get it back online, I’ve only quit war zone. And those are few are far between. I had one recently however, due to the complete ineptitude of my team who decided that the only base they needed was SPIRE and COMPLETELY left all other bases alone the entire game (I’m guessing). By minute 8, after trying to obtain East by myself and getting murdered by the other team every time, I said -Yoink- it and left. It’s scenarios like these where I find zero joy in playing that I find it absolutely acceptable to quit. I hope whoever was in that team is reading this, so you can -Yoinking!- get it right.

How about a scenario you conveniently left out that happens to ME the most in arena:

You are at the top of the scoreboard on both teams but your 3 teammates are all 3-13, 2-7, and 2-10 and it’s clear no matter how much you destroy the enemy your team is going to get killed that much more then you can slaughter.

When I leave THOSE games, who’s experience was really ruined? My 3 crappy teammates that couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag despite being in my rank bracket? The 4 people on the enemy team just stomping my inept teammates? (Now that I’m gone they get to crush that much more as all resistance is removed)

Or was my experience ruined the most, because I signed up for a ranked arena game, and was given worthless teammates. Whats the point of rank if you constantly get people that somehow got to platinum and beyond ranks but play at the level of a sub-silver player?

Worthless teammates ruin my game experience just as much as people that quit. Even more so really. What do I owe these noobs? To go super ham and carry them through the game so they get a false advance in a rank they didn’t deserve in the first place!?!

That being said I only quit from arena games in the most extreme cases like that, and primarily play warzone.

Not that simples. The point of capturing a FOB inWarzone is above a home base. Why would I spawn across the map as my base is getting taken over? Especially if it is on the opposite side. Spawning in 4v4 on maps such as Coliseum, Overgrowth, Plaza and occasionally Truth put you DIRECTLY in the lines of sight and half the time, BR fire. This is made even more dreadful from the shortened time to kill in Halo 5. I NEVER advocated quitting matches in any of the Halo games before Halo 5, now I just get why when it is an 8 on 5 in BTBs broken forge “maps”. On a positive note, Rig, Fathom and Empire are my favorite 4v4 maps since the Pit, Foundry and Guardian.

Either way quitting is unacceptable. You run the risk of having trash teamates when you play solo, I’m aware of that, and you should be too. Playing a ranked match though EVERYONE should stick it out and try to win the game.

That logic makes no sense. How is it unacceptable in the parameters I described? How specifically is it bad? Team is still gonna lose. Outcome is the same.

Sorry guys, but when it comes down to a freakin video game i play in my freetime, i don’t give a -Yoink- about the experience of others. I wanna have fun, if it ruins your fun if a quit, feel free to do the same and search for another match. it only takes you 30 seconds. Sticking in a -Yoink- game costs me 8-10 minutes, so no thanks… not gonna happen.

Yeah great idea there bud. Instead of fighting for an armory that’s under attack, I’ll just spawn across the map because the game can’t give me a good spawn otherwise. Brilliant. Every time a base is under attack, I’ll just spawn elsewhere. We’ll just defend our core all game long.

On topic, I’ll quit when I want for whatever reason I want. Warzone is frustrating when you’re stuck with potato teammates all game long. I love losing a game with 30 kills and 5 boss take downs while everyone else on my team has single digits kills with 0 boss kills. So fun. Maybe 343 should, I don’t know, implement some actual skill matching in warzone instead of just throwing 24 random players together. Until then, I’ll quit every game I am stuck with potatoes.

I agree to an extent, but I see nothing wrong with quitting if your team is already outnumbered, or if you have trolls for teammates. And at the end of the day, I value how much fun I am having over how much fun my opponents or teammates are having. I rarely quit because of the penalty, but I never blame people who do if they are getting stomped. No amount of tips will make a bad team keep up with a good team.

Hear Hear. I for one stick to my matches no matter how badly we are losing, even if reqs arent working, even if I am hating it. Just because I don’t like to handicap the team even more than it may already be. You have some good tips there too. While I don’t really do arena (and probably won’t unless they add infection and/or a CTF ONLY mode) In warzone I do the defense thing if the other team is too good. Some games I kick the crap out of the other team (had one match where we won and the other team only had 68 points) and other matches I can’t get a kill to save my life, lol. In those games I opt to stick with defense, or as you say, run with other players. Usually I stick to defense in those however, as I am more of a lone-wolf sort of player. I seem to do better when defending against good teams than when attacking good teams.
