I’m just looking for ways to get better, primarily in ranked arena. I’m looking out for way to better my accuracy, and ways to control the map.
Try answering these questions to fill out your paperwork:
- Are you an aggressive or defensive player? - Do you prefer fighting up close and personal or from a safe distance? - Do you focus on getting kills, tackling the objectives, or a mix of both? - Are you a lone wolf or do you go with your teammates?Lower sensitivities allow for greater stability on targets at a distance, but demands greater situational awareness to combat any surprises (which you may not react fast enough to combat them). Higher sensitivities allow for greater overall flexibility, but requires you to develop muscle memory and muscle control to prevent missing your shots.
Here’s my 2 cents.
-
Always focus on having the least deaths on your team. If you can focus on dying the least, killing the most will end up being a biproduct of this. This is advice the best halo player I personally know had given me, and it’s been true for me, and he continues to outshine me at every level of every halo since the first.

No one will support you, so support them instead. Even team mates with no mic will pick up on when you “pair up” with them for the current spawn. I’d you follow a team mates path for more than 10 seconds, they’ll notice, and they’ll start acting with a team mate in mind. If you both cab coordinate power weapon pickups, it gets even better!
These aren’t going to work 100% of the time, but I guarantee you the following these two thought processes will improve your game, and you could end up learning from those around you (watching both of you succeed, or watching your teammates die while you live on.
To better your accuracy i would highly recommend a sensitivity of 6 or lower. Nothing higher than 6. This is not CoD!
Tip: set your outer dead zone to 0.
As for controlling the map, positioning is key and if there’s a top side, control that. If you get destroyed in a match, I’d suggest you go to theater and watch how to control that map.
My advice: Know your specific playstyle.
-
Some people are better with certain situations or weapons than others and you need to know what you specifically are good with.
-
Focus on what your good at while improving on your weaknesses on your free time in social arena.
-
And ask youself if you’re turning too fast or too slow, sensitivity is different for everyone and just because a better player plays on a higher or lower speed than you doesn’t always mean that it’ll work for you too. so use what’s good for YOU so you can survive encounters regularly.
-
Challenge yourself, fight more skilled players and when you’re playing, focus carefully on what your opponent is doing. (routes, weapon combos, choke points, manuevering…) And see if these things work for you.
And then you repeat, eventually you’ll master what you know and be on your way with whatever you plan on improving, whether it’s a weapon, a specific path or route, engagements, etc.

I’m defensive, Mid-distance, objectives, and lone wolf unless I’m playing with my friends.

You’ll see it.
