Anyone else or is it just me? Playing H3 is just downright frustrating for me. I know I was never good at multiplayer, but come on now.
Every game I play, I find myself at the bottom of the scoreboard, going -12 or something. Literally 95% of the people I go against seem much better than me, meanwhile I struggle so much to even get 4 kills. What gives?
It truly feels like this game is only being played by people who play 24/7 since 2007, for real.
I’ve played a lot since 2009, and I still suck.

Launching MCC on PC didn’t attract a lot of new players, just made old xbox players return or switch over to PC. Halo 3 has been always a sweats game, but rn is worse, because all new players either stopped playing Halo or moved to Infinite.
If you keep getting frustrated and not enjoying the game, then don’t play it, believe me, we must accept we can’t be good at everything.
In my case, Halo 2C is a nightmare to me, it’s like playing against aimbots, impossible to win a single match, didn’t matter how hard i tried to improve i just simply sück at that game. What I did? Stopped playing H2, and enjoyed the rest of the games. Never regretted that decision.
Nobody wants to gift money to Microsoft by just playing MCC with limit time (Pay to Xbox Live Gold just for playing it or gamepass), so all the old-player base switched to PC to avoid that annoying payment wall.

I still do just fine, but I have been noticing a lot here lately that I get teamed with people that just wander around the map and don’t actually get any kills or do the objective. I don’t mind losing as long as the rest of my team actually tries, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here recently and it is starting to get very frustrating. It’s like why bother playing at all if you aren’t going to try and just walk around or sit in a corner.
In the nicest possible way, yes. It’s the last Halo game to come out so naturally a lot of people decided to keep playing it instead of the Destiny beta, and 343s attempt to create their own project whilst using the success of the Halo trilogy to sell it.
A lot of people there have spent almost 15 years playing it so of course they’re going to be very good. I hope it doesn’t discourage you from trying it out though. There’s a good reason that any subsequent product with “Halo” slapped on the front hasn’t had a peak population higher than it.
That’s the main reason i ditched the multiplayer and switched to custom games instead
Half the time you are not fighting players with Doritos dust on their genitalias you will most likely be obliterated by clans or by people that spawncamp your team in objectives (cough Last Resort)
Pretty much how I feel. What irks me is that people seem to put out double the damage I do. Like, there was this guy I was shooting from behind, I put like 6 or 7 BR bursts in and he still did not die. He turns around, he shoots 2 BR shots at me and I am dead. Like, what?
This is what I was thinking yesterday. Custom Games are chill and fun, nothing frustrating about them so far. I was also thinking to stick to Firefight, but some maps are seemingly broken in ODST. Don’t know if they fixed those already, but ok, maybe I will play that too regardless.
True, hopefully with the next MCC update they should fix the firefight issues and add more modes to the playlist
I mean in honesty, I play Halo 3 way more than any other title and actively regret even touching any mistake made after. I’d easily be categorised in whatever derogatory label you have for someone that appreciates quality.
From my perspective, I’m sick of having teammates with as much understanding of Halo as the developers. Equally, I’m more than happy to teach them how to play properly and let them enjoy a product that 343i could never replicate.
Yes, the majority playing it are old school fans so they are incredibly good. I still play from time to time to get the 2 ranked wins challenge since H3 team Slayer has the quickest matchmaking. I too am not very good compared to most playing now. What I do is play very very conservatively. I practically go for assist more so than actual kills. I also have to try and remember in H3 it seems, to me at least, I have to aim a little lower than usual, neck/chest area compared to directly at the head like the other titles.
Sure would like to see more ctf variety in the custom games browser.
Just when I think I’m good at Halo, I hop onto H3 MCC or H2 and get destroyed haha. Sometimes I can get like 15-20 kills, but others my team and I just get spawn trapped and it’s like 50-20. Most times you’re better off playing BTB for a more chill time.
Play BTB or play with friends that you’ve met on XBL. Play to enjoy the game especially if it’s Halo 3.

Yeah It’s because you’re playing against halo veterans like myself who have been playing for so many years and don’t really want to go to any other game
Halo 3 is turning into a game that is played by the best of players. And it sucks.
It absolutely sucks the fun out of the game.
You try to have friendly sporty matches like you would in any game. then a clan of basement dwellers don’t even let you move 3 feet after you respawn.
There’s just no need for them to be so big headed about it either. End of the day it’s a game. There will always be another
The best way to aim in h3 is 3 shots to the body and the final shot to the head while leading your shots. I think some people don’t know that and it probably makes h3 not as fun for some people.
So I gave it another shot… and I still suck. However, I noticed now that I have more overall wins than losses. When I made this thread I had like 270 wins and 290 losses. Now I have 313 wins and 309 losses.
I have changed my layout to universal bumper jumper, and I honestly do not know why I didn’t do that before. It feels so much better to play. I always played with default settings. 20 years like that, sigh, now I have to unlearn it all.

Ok honestly I did not know this but this aim thing is just so dumb. You say 3 shots but for me it feels like barely 2 bursts and I am dead. Not sure if its the ping or something, since 9/10 times the game connects me to Eastern US servers anyway.
Halo 3 hands down is the worst of the multiplayer. It takes an entire magazine to take someone down, and the feedback system when shooting is the worst. The maps are great, the graphics are great, but compared to 2, 4, 5, Infinite, and even OG Halo, Halo 3 is awful.
