My hard drive is toast. It keeps overheating. If I get a new one, is there any easy way to transfer all of my data? All I can think of is saving it all to a flash drive and then moving it back to my new hard drive when I get it.
Is this the best way? (I have an xbox slim)
I’m not sure about the retailer you’re buying it off but in GameStop, they transferred everything over for me when I bought a new hard drive.
I’m not sure but I think a SATA hard drive caddy could connect your hard drive to your computer where you could transfer all of your files onto a single file and then transfer them all back onto your new hard drive.
Hope this helps. :L

I’ll try this. I have to go to GameStop anyway. Still have to pre-order my Halo 4!
you can actually buy a transfer cable from a local retailer.
they are specifically designed for the xbox and moving files from one hard drive to another.
this is how it works. you hook up the big end to your old hard drive [make sure that you put your new hard drive in our xbox] then you plug the usb port into your xbox and it will ask you what you want to move and then you transfer.
this is a pic of what they look like

This transfer cable is NOT compatible for transferring between Xbox 360 S’s.
this is the new transfer cable it was made compatible for both consoles.
