Get rid of the Cr/EXP systems or include Custom Games

For Halo 4 there either needs to be no Cr/EXP system, or it needs to apply to all game modes instead of online matchmaking. Some of my favorite times in Halo 2 were in custom games with score limits of 500 or 1000. The custom game community was crippled in Halo 3 and is pretty much nonexistent in Reach, and I believe part of the problem is that there is really no reward for playing custom games. If people got around the same amount of credits for equal time spent in matchmaking and custom games, that would help revitalize the custom game community.

The two concerns with this would probably be people boosting, and “What about a 1-50 system”?

  1. People can boost just as easily in matchmaking by going in with a full party, and honestly I don’t get why people care so much about cheating/boosting… So some random dude you don’t know thinks its fun to full party boost all of his commendations? That’s cool for him I guess, but it doesn’t affect me at all so I don’t care.

  2. The 1-50 system was much better in Halo 2 than in Halo 3, and the only way I’d like to see it come back is if the time frame on it could be accelerated. If they are going to use a 1-50 system they should start off with like a 10 game rating period so you don’t have to start out at 1 and just waste your time getting up to the appropriate level. Also most good players should cap off between like 38-44. There were way too many 50’s in Halo 3, and honestly I’m much more impressed by someone with a 30+ in Halo 2 than a 50 in Halo 3.

I prefer an EXP system. It gives me a feeling of progression. I dislike the 1-50 system because of the rank locking.

I like the cR system to be perfectly honest, I like the idea of having to invest in your Spartan, but I will admit it doesn’t really work as the sole ranking method outside of Arena. In my ideal world the cR system would remain but only as a means of buying new armour, etc, not as a means of ranking.

I don’t know what that new ranking system should be, as personally 1-50 in H3 always created a certain elitism that I can’t express how much I hated (z0mg u r eever 50 or u r trash). Whatever it is, not cR.

Not sure if you read my post or not, but I was mainly suggesting that they make custom game credit payouts on par with matchmaking. If they do that I don’t care at all about how they rate skill.

hate to troll but there is really no such thing as rank locking. if u can win enough games consistently to get ur trueskill going again, u’ll level fast again. u can be expected to level after u win 100 and lose 99 on ur 45, the system aims to show real skill improvement.

cR is just for armor and extra tid bits that don’t effect matchmaking mechanics, you get more cR for more game time spent, just like in MM right now.

EXP and Skill are for MM only and progress you like in Halo 3. Except I would like to add something from Arena.

Ex. Skill 50 top 10%. To prevent rank locks. Or at least, try to.

Nope, once you play to many games the True Skill system breaks.

Stuck at a rank, such as 34 for a long -Yoink- time. Or forever. No matter how many times you win (or place top 50%) you can’t rank up.

Ya I personally don’t really care for the 1-50 ranking system of Halo 3, however the point of my post is that the Cr system is focused too heavily on commendations that don’t mean anything and MM matchmaking whether it be campaign, competitive, or firefight. I just feel like custom games are a part of what made Halo fun in the first place for me(Tower of power on Ascension, games to 500/1000 on midship where you could just drop in and out throughout the night, the original zombies in Halo 2, etc.) , but the way they are doing Cr now provides no incentive for people to play anything but matchmaking.

I think the Cr system is fine, but it definitely needs an increase for campaign in a way that doesn’t benefit boosters. Customs could also be worked with, but I don’t see a way to add more Cr without boosters going crazy.

EDIT: Also what is with the tiny commendation payouts? By the time it takes you to reach Onyx the cR’s are worthless.

i had to win 26 straight games on my slayer 46 but i got it going up to a 50

I disagree.

Let Halo 4 have a TS ranking system (one that isn’t flawed like Halo 3s was) and keep credits in for armour only.

Have extra credits for team work and medals.

And the higher the TS you are the more of the Armoury you unlock.

And if you lose a rank you lose ya armour.

The reward of customs is playing with friends on your own maps, especially in mini-games and other content that matchmaking just doesn’t provide. If anyone is so hung-up on not getting Cr for Customs that they won’t join, their priorities are completely out of wack and they’re probably too try-hard to care anyway.

I have to disagree about Custom Games being dead, since it’s pretty much all I’ve done since Reach was launched; My game revolves around forge and customs. You just need to look in the right place to find custom players, generally any of the big forging sites. Try XForgery.com for instance.

Also, lol that everyone just started ranting about the ranking system and I’m the first to address the Customs concern.
