Get rid of Temp. Banning System? Yes or No…Explain why?
No, because players who quit lessen the enjoyment of those around them. Quitting puts your team at a disadvantage and often creates a domino effect where even more players quit which produces painfully boring games.
I personally think the quit ban should be harsher, and if you quit a game you shouldn’t be able to search again until the game you quit out of is finished.
If there’s no reason to keep players in the game, then no.
The main issue with the temporary banning system is that people want to quit out since some games get to where you’re losing and there’s no negative incentive to quitting (aside from the banning system). This is further amplified with the lack of a proper skill matching system since those types of games are more likely to occur.
If proper skill matching and an incentive to keep players in a game, no matter what, is implemented then the necessity of a temp banning system would come into question (I would still keep it in just for good measure, but at this moment it is absolutely required as a negative incentive to remain in a losing game).
Yes even though it’ll never happen. I quit out of some games because I sometimes get matched up with players who don’t pay attention and I’m not going to play with bad teammates, especially those who have no mic.
> No, because players who quit lessen the enjoyment of those around them. Quitting puts your team at a disadvantage and often creates a domino effect where even more players quit which produces painfully boring games.
Agreed. The quit ban should definitely be alot harsher. You should lose credits every time you quit. I went into this before on another thread a while ago but its very annoying when you get into a game of CTF or Assault and 3 Teammates quit because they didn’t get to play Slayer. I might as well post my idea here.
Quit once: -5,000 Credits
Quit twice: -10,000 Credits
Quit three times: -20,000 Credits and banned from matchmaking until 12:01 Am (00:01)
I also understand that the system does not have the ability to differentiate between a lag out and a quit. COD does, so why can’t a game thats 1365498654123 times better?
You still get credits whether you win or lose.
Of course i get PO’ed sometimes when i lose, but i don’t quit like some people when your team is obviously about to lose. I don’t even understand the point of that? Basically you just wasted your time and get no credits whatsoever. (besides challenges)
The quit ban has to be one of the stupidest ideas ever to be implemented in an online FPS. First of all, think about it. Someone who is ragequitting isn’t going to be deterred from leaving a game because of a quit ban. If they are that mad, they aren’t going to care if they can get right back into a game.
The only people this quit ban hurts are the people who don’t WANT to quit, but already had teammates leave. Now instead of just being able to leave the game yourself, you are “stuck” int that game and forced to take a beating out of fear that you might be banned for quitting. This isn’t fair.
The quit ban has the exact opposite effect it intended. Quitters are a problem in Halo: Reach. The quit ban makes them even more so.
The Quit-ban was a great idea. In practice, however, it is ineffective and the glitches that result in banning people who did not quit games make it stupider than the betrayal booting system.
Fix it or remove it.

Exactly. The quit ban does nothing. The real solution is to address the reasons why people quit.
Improve and maintain the spawns on maps, to prevent spawnkilling. Tighten up TrueSkill parameters to ensure that teams of equal skill get matched. Fix bugs and balance issues in maps, and don’t be afraid to wholly scrap a map if it doesn’t play well. Remove game mechanics that reward unsportsmanlike conduct. That is how 343i can bring about a significant reduction in quits.

If anything they need to Improve and strengthen it.
I think moving to the join in progress system in Halo 4 could be the best solution.

I don’t know. Call me paranoid but that’s getting a bit too close to CoD in my opinion

Implying Call of Duty was the only game since gaming started that implemented a join in progress system.
Halo is nothing like CoD, please think a little before you even try to make that comparison again.

Yes halo is nothing like CoD but since Halo seems to be the only original FPS out there I would like it to be as far away from other shooters as possible hence “call me paranoid”

Fine I suppose I have to give you the victory here.
If they implement another system to stop people quitting, only then should they remove the quit ban system.

I agree, harsher is what is needed. I stopped playing reach because of this. Quitting or going AFC is just not fair to the other players. Just last night I played like 4 rounds of anni. firefight and every single time people quit or were just standing still obviously AFC.
Why in the hell would anyone want to get rid of the ban system???
Sure, it’s not perfect and sometimes unfair, but it helps keep the really childish players from continually quitting and/or betraying teammates without suffering repercussions.
They need to fix it, not remove it.
> If they implement another system to stop people quitting, only then should they remove the quit ban system.
This. Also I believe if there was a real rank system the amount of quitters would decrease, Yes people would still do it, but not nearly as much.

This idea is simply brillaint!
